Any tips on stopping the bottom spout from dripping when it shouldn't?

Turn the spout plug back & forth a couple of times when you see it start to drip. If you keep th e pot more than 1/4 full, the dripping pretty much stopped for me w/ a 10# & 20#. An occasional turn of the spout plug reduces any dripping to a min.

That, or adding weight to the handle are the two easiest fixes.

With my 10lb, wiggle the rod around and don't let the lead get real low. It's been no big deal with mine as I seem to be messy with it anyway.

With my Lee 20lb pot, I turn the spout each time I shut it down. Several full turns.
I leave it full when It cools down.
Also, do not alloy metals in it. Clean the lead in another pot rather than use the 20 pounder for cleaning alloy.
Keeps the crud out as much as it can.

Mine leaks occasionally. What i do is stick the end of a paperclip up threw the nipple to clean it out. Works everytime. It also speeds up the flow.

You can add weight to the valve post like this. It is about 3" of 3/4" diameter steel rod that I drilled to fit the valve rod.

I clamp a small pair of "Vice Grips" on the top of the needle valve. Adds weight and makes it easy to twist the valve back and forth so it seats and seals.

If you have a Lee pot that never drips, take it back where you bought it, and demand a NORMAL Lee pot.
Note= Never just put ingots in a Lee pot and leave while it is heating up. Do not ask how I know not to do this.

The drip on a Lee pot is standard issue. It is installed at the factory and they do NOT charge extra for it!

This as well as a large nut I found on the railroad track works well as a weight.

When done for the day i take out the spout plug and clean with steel wool till its nice and shiney. Then i remove anything in the hole with air pressure, but be careful. Takes longer to start leaking again this way. Then back to turning the spout plug.

Wanna really stop it? Drill & tap, install #4-40 Socket Head Cap Screw....remove extraneous linkage, use dipper........
