Ok here we go, the buy starts today

This is the original design that has already had a couple of group buys done on it. Hopefully enough of you want one of these, badly.

It looks like the price is $56.00 and can be sent directly to me, I however do not wish to publish my name and info on the net, so if you wanna email me I will reply with the address

When we hit the magic number of 25, I will give a two week warning and at the end of them two weeks if you have not put a check in the mail, you don't want one at this time. I will wait a reasonable amount of time for the checks that were sent by the two week warning date, then it is off to lee..

We all know what this boolit is and if not there is a ton of stuff written up about it, so there should not be many questions on this one, it should be painless and straight forward.

I will answer questions when I can, but I do not check email every single night, I will try to. I work underground construction so some nights I simply cannot.

No whining please, no arguing please, this is the heavy 35 boolit the majority wants so that is what we get.

357Maximum is a great guy to deal with.

I kept the nose length shorter on this bullet so that it would feed from my Rossi M-92 357 mag. The bullets dropped at almost 180gns from WW and seem to shoot great at low and high velocities.
Have fun.

So far I have had 7 requests for my address, maybe this won't take a long time, I am hoping anyway. To answer recurring ?'s this boolit will fit most leverguns if not all of them , it has shot very well for me in 357 max at 2K and I am sure I could push it faster if I could get more powder in the case, or try a different rate powder, but I am very happy with the 4227 loads I used in my 357 max pistol on the boolits Jeff sent me. yes this boolit would be suitable to kill deer ( that is my plan and I think it will be ideal for this task), and yes it is a gas check design.

So far 9 requests for my info..

If I could I would like to ask you all a favor, when requesting my address; please use my email (not the PM sytem)it makes it alot easier on me plus it does not bite into the bandwith here. I simply check my mail and do a paste for the address and answer any qustions and it makes for a one step operation that way.

requesting my address has had an added side benefit, it kind of gives us an idea of the number of interested parties, so thats a plus..

thank you..

Looking good fellas

22 requests so far for my address

I would like to thank junior for posting about this group buy elswhere, has brought in a couple more requests. If all the requests pan out we are in good shape and heading in the right direction. I have had several comments about the price of the mold. Some seem to think I should have charged 58 instead of the 56. Well lets not worry about this yet, I am betting on the law of averages of distance to ship will make it real close to being right. If you wanna send me extra money, by all means go ahead, but please make it in the form of hundred dollar bills...the more the better..

Have a great evening all..

Update: Just got in from a weekend of shroomin in beautiful upper michigan, the three of us picked around 6 - 7 hundred in two solid days of hard hunting. This is about 1/3 as good as we usually do, but it was fun nonetheless. The requests were a popping this weekend. I have recieved checks from the following:

This is a total list thus far:

32127
59923
01525
40031
35748 (thank you)
88203 (x2)
81401

That is 9 buys total including me, AND we are at over 40 requests.. Looking real good. It won't be long now....Remember when I have 25 checks in my possession, I will sound the two week warning to send a check if you want one of these critters. I will then wait for those checks to get to me, and anything postmarked after said date will be returned to sender. Don't think that this makes me some kind of jackarse or something, I just believe the group as a whole should be penalized for a few peoples indecision or slothiness. If you have not sent a check by the end of them two weeks you simply don't want one bad enough, and or you don't need one bad enough. We all want to start pouring lead in them molds and the faster we send the order to lee the faster we will have our mold. There is absolutely no reason a group buy collection should take a long time provided there is interest in it, which in this case there obviously is. We may not be able to control how long lee takes to make the mold, but we can control how long it takes to collect the dough to order.

If you are wondering, YES I am an impatient man on this, I want in a real bad way to have time to load test and tweak for accuracy before the deer opener on Nov 15, and there is no reason we should have to wait for those who act slowly or only talk about action. I decided to honcho this deal because I was simply tired of waiting for someone else to do it. I am just as busy as most people, but I want one of these molds really bad. So as Larry would say lets "GIT ER DONE"

Can you recommend a good load for this with a Rossi model 92 and/or Ruger blackhawks? (357Magnum and Maximum both)

Handloads.com says 10-12.5gr of 2400. (sounds like a darn good load for this round)
Comments? Suggestions? Corrections?

9.3X62AL
05-01-2006, 11:32 PM
My first load with this boolit will likely be 13.0 x WW-296, working up slowly from there. The platform will be a Ruger Bisley Blackhawk 357 x 7.5", goal is 1350 FPS so that the boolit stays hypersonic throughout its maximum game-taking range (75 yards absolute limit). 50 yards is a more likely and reasonable limit, really--but jackrabbits justify a "fudge factor".

12 grains of 2400 gets 1,489 fps average out of my 18.5 inch 1894C and is good for 10 shot groups of 4 - 5 inches at 100 yards. No reason you shouldn't get similar performance from your Rossi.

I set the boolits Jeff sent me over 21 and 22 grains of H4227 with great accuracy. These were listed several places as max or over, but I had no issues in my Match Grade Machine 357 maximum encore pistol. Incidentally this is the same loading I use with bulk remington 180 grain jhp's. I tried AA1680 in the max, but was less than pleased with the accuracy.

We are only two molds away from the 25 mark fellas, this is going faster than expected. And should be over in les than three weeks or so. If you want one ya'll better get on board quickly. I missed the last buy, and anguished over it for awhile so if you are thinking about it or sittin on the fence, you might wanna get your pen out and fire a check or money order this way.

Hey Mike,
Those little black ones were my Dad's favorites. One time as a kid he asked me if I'd seen any morels after a day out in the woods. When I told him "Just some funny little black ones!" He jumped up, "Black Morels!" lets go! My Mom dried a huge quantity of them during one particularly good year and I ate them 18 yrs later! She threaded a sewing thread thru them. My Dad's favorite location was beneath a dead cottonwood. In fact, he "ringed" a young cottonwood in the swamp down behind our house & the next year, there were morels there.

Anyway, I am sending off the $56.00 for the .358 reprisal mould.

Newtire--

The "heavier" 32 caliber boolits seem to do better work at the higher end of the performace envelope in the 32 Magnum. All and all, I prefer the 95-100 grain boolits in that caliber. I'm not too sure the 4227 load was "mine"--I've used it, but it's not my pet load. With the RCBS 98 SWC, it's hard to find a powder or velocity that doesn't work well, in my experience with both 32 SWL and 32 Mag.

I am getting pretty excited at the possibilities of this 180 grainer in the BisHawk x 357 x 7.5". I've run some cast boolits to pretty intrepid velocities from this platform with decent accuracy, e.g. #358156 well past 1500 FPS and #358430 well past 1300 FPS. This might be my second such statement--but I think 1450 FPS is do-able in the Ruger safely.

Back on the .32 mag. Since my gun is only an H & R, I want to keep things down there but it seems to like the bullets kicked in the butt like you said. I posted this over on "cast boolits" but just for fun I used 5.1 gr. 800-X. (Lee dipper dipped) with the 32-98 & accuracy was a difinite improvement over anything so far. The IMR 4227 powder I used was so dirty that I am going to try the 10 gr. with H-4227 this time. Accuracy was approaching the good side but not like the heavy 800-x load. Next time I will use the Disc measure to see if it gives any more uniform charges. That 800-X is kinda chunky stuff for a measure it looks like.
It's all fun!

I'm going and try and work up a load with this boolit for a 358win. First I'll see how deep the boolit seats in the case and still work through the action. I'll use a starting charge of imr 4895 that fills 60% of the remaining case capacity and work up from there. Does this sound like a sound process or is there another powder that you think may be better.

Thanks

I haven't even used "the perfect .30-30" mold yet. Now, nobody tell me about it if "the perfect .44Spl" boolit is GB'ing. I don't even have a lever for that cal yet to go with my 5-shot Rossi 720 that I love so much.

Refresh my memory:

LEE will ship you 45+ moulds and you are shipping out to everyone?

The US Post is going to love you...

Also:

Is Buckshot in on this buy?

I was wondering if it would be possible to drop-ship the mould to him so he can add a HP & Flat nose pin to one of the cavities for me...

Yes, I get one big box of lil boxes then I print labels and send them all individually to you all.

Yes, buckshot is in on this buy.

As far as shipping your mold to him for you, that is something the two of you would have to hash out amongst yourselves. If that is what the two of you decide I am willing to ship him two instead of one. It would be easier to just ship it to you, but I can do it. I can not/will not speak for Buckshot that is all you man.

Lets see, 50+ of those little boxes with labels.

Are you going to wrap them or do they just come in plan white boxes?

Not that it matters to me, mind you, but, ol' Clifford Claven at the US Postal service may have a cow when they see the word "bullet" on anything.

I wasn't meaning anything other than the original plan would happen, I was just keeping you all up to date, and making sure the post office did not lose anybody.

I missed out on the last buy because I did not lurk in the right areas, and I regretted it. I WILL NOT PUT ANYBODY THROUGH THAT. I was quite torn that I missed it, so I am just saying if you even just think you may want in, get in, the time is now and rapidly fleeting. In order for me to fix my lack of paying attention I had to honcho the buy to get what I wanted, when I wanted it.

Jeff I do not see us making 100 moulds ever, and I am not willing to wait months and months to find out, trying to save a few pennies. I wanna kill a nice whitetail buck on NOV 15 with this bad lad. If we were somewhere in the 80 to 90 range it would be worth considering, but at 53 moulds I do not see this happening in time. To my knowledge there are only two checks enroute as I type this.

Has anyone sent an envelope I have not recieved yet, remember Monday is a federal holiday, so no mail that day, and the deadline is rapidly approaching. If you want in now is the time, cause soon you wil be S.O.L............

If you get to 60 payed molds ( I think ) it would be wise to just order 100 .

100 moulds at $30 ( 100 price I think ) would be $3000
60 moulds at $50 is $3000 also .

I would then anounce you are going to cash the checks , but leave the the Group buy open to new orders till the moulds came in .
If you would reach 99 (+ one free for you ) or close to it .
You could close it .

Then when you ship the moulds , you could refund any excess .
Minus a $1 for the trouble of writing the check and maybe $1 donation to the site .

Any excess molds could be sold and you could profit a little :drinks: , but I would send another donation to the site for sold molds .

Just my Idea .

Johnch

That makes a lot of sense. You just KNOW there's going to be people asking after it's closed, and if it can be done for no extra money, I can see no reason not to.
I paid what I expected to for a mold. I'm not due a refund yet, since it's not cash. In theory, I guess I own a portion of another mold at 357Max's house. What, 2/3 of a mold? Assuming there's 60 of us and ordering 100 molds.
There ought to be a way that, if I need the money, I could sell that portion to another member for a refund; or buy the portion of someone else, and get the mold; or leave it invested there until sold (for the regular price we agreed to in the beginning, or even a little higher- it's available immediately). This way Max isn't stuck trying to pay refunds when he still has molds.

Heck, Max could just do this on his own and us never know about it, then he's got 40 molds free to sell. I could live with that.

David R

This thought crossed my mind too. 60 molds @ $56.00 comes to $3360.00

100 Molds comes to $3700.00?

What about shipping? The guy is going to need $360.00 for shipping of the original 60 molds. Now we are up to $3700.00 plus $360.00 for shipping, that comes to 4060.00 Investment. for 100 molds.

I was a honcho for 62 molds give or take a couple. I ordered a few extra. Boy am I glad I did. I crunched the same #s to see if it was worth it. I would still be sitting on about 30 molds and not broke even yet.

05-27-2006, 06:49 AM
If you buy over 100 molds, they are I think $37.00 each instead of $50.00.

What I was trying to say is its not really worth it. Just send the buy in when you are ready.

Yes David you are absolutely right...

Anyway I figure it it still would be about 1200 bucks out of my pocket, ain't gonna happen folks.. CFO would never allow it... got payments to make on 20 acres, new chevy , and new catboat, and why the hell would I wanna babysit 40 molds for anyway..

I deided to honcho this thing because i wanted a mold for this real bad, and NO one else would do it, I did not do it to go into the mold reselling bussiness or to make a profit. I already have one occupation I do not want, and most nights I do not get home from that until 7, 8, or 9 and my alarm goes off a 4:30 . So you do the math as to how much time I have in the summer, I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER JOB. And as far as those that do not get in this buy, I feel for them if they miss it ( I really do), but I was in the same boat awhile ago, It did not kill me. I simply had to wait a lil while till interest was there. They will do the same, but for now they are simply S.O.L. It happens to all of us from time to time.

BTW If I break even on this thing, I plan on doing a buy for a 200+ grainer of basically the same design sometime this coming winter so there will a chance for those who missed it to get a similar, but heavier boolit for their toys. ( If interest is there)

I hope I do not come off sounding like a d!ckhead, but it simply the way it is, If you lurked, but did not get in on the buy you simply did not want it that bad, and if you simply missed it, well then you missed it.

I would never want to upset, or offend anyone on accident. Now if I do it on purpose that is something different entirely. Sometimes my fingers do not keep speed with my brain, and I reread a post and I could/can see how it may sound to someone who do not know I am almost never serious away from work.

At work is something differrent, but then lack of seriousness can and has gotten people crushed, killed, electrocuted, and seriously burnt. Sometimes you guys get a little of both as I normally sit down and visit here right after I walk in the door from work.

Just sat down and endorsed 50+ checks and money orders, last time I wrote the same thing that many times it was on a chalkboard. YES, I know it may be hard to believe, but I did get in trouble at school. alot (something to do with a show me, prove it attitude).

I also printed up all the mailing labels, so when lee does get the molds to me I can ship them to you all. I know i have plenty of time to do it, but I wanted to make them up while I had both checks and envelopes to work with. trying to not mess this up, so I figured that was the best insurance. I numbered the envelopes as they arrived, boy I am glad I did that, it accidentally became a real good way to organize the pile, shipping, and molds to who and how many system. I used those avery 2"X4" labels cause I wanted your postman to be able to actually read where it needs to go. Looks real nice, not my normal style but nice all the same. When the molds get here all I have to do is slap them shipping labels on throw some tape on the lil box and go annoy the person at the post office. Theys' gonna love me

So basically my job is done (till the molds show up) unless I get a check in the mail tomorrow.

Don't remember where I put the high velocity targets.

I like the idea of adding a secant nose to it. I have the original drawings and autocad files. Are you guys thinking of making the meplat smaller also?

I kept the nose length at .3" because anything longer wouldn't feed in my Rossi M92 With a different nose design, we might be able to make the nose longer and get more powder space in the case.

I haven't followed an discussion on changing the nose. Could someone point me in the right direction?

Steve...you are a very sick man to be taking pictures of all the boolits and cartridges gathering togehter like that and climbing on your press. I'm going out tomorrow and send some of my own "children" downrange. I ordered one of these moulds and don't even have a .357 gun. I tried one day to go maybe buy one but got "bushwacked" by first a Model 70 skulking on one of the racks and then there was this Ruger .44 Mag. rifle along with another Win. '94 30-30 AI that tackled me and drug me over to the sales counter. One of these days I'll get that .357!

This is kinda scary, If it is OK with all of you I will check at random about 10 of the molds. I won't install handles, I will just gently place tham in my wood padded vise and pour some ww and sn mix in them to make sure they are ok before I send them, that way if there is a problem they can all go back together or whatever we decide IF we have to cross that bridge Hopefully we do not have to. I will thoroughly test mine, by doing a full casting session and then recording the results from a bunch of random samples, when they get here that is, I am starting to really want to play with these badly. I have some samples from Jeff223's mold from the last group buy, if our molds cast like his mold does we are golden, My 15 inch 357 max will onehole 10 of them at 100 yards, at 8 power on the gold line scope..when I did my part. I picked up a bunch of them tyvek envelopes to send them in, I got the idea when I bought one of the extra ..314-120 molds from willibird, that is gonna save me a ton of wrap up time, glad I bought that mold, them tyvek envelopes are tough.

Like the rest of you I am eagerly awaiting this mold...

Mine is likely to sit in the box for perhaps years before I ever get around to buying a furnace and such, so if you want to test mine I'd be proud, but then make sure and tell me what I have to do to preserve it.

I pro'lly ought to be more selective where I spend money, not that this and the other molds aren't worth it, but being as I'm still not a caster, maybe I've jumped in the wrong end of the pool. I just hate missing out on something I MAY want someday...

My anniversary present from my wife was a no-lock 625-6 Mountain Gun .45 Colt at the gun show this weekend in Southaven. I had actually looked for that very thing and come to the conclusion that it didn't exist, that the lock came before they made these in Colt.

Obviously I was mistaken.

So now I'm back thinking about .45's again. And still not yet a caster. Gotta get my priorities straight.

I've been trying to decide between a 4" .45 Colt, a 4" .44 Special, or something else... And then there are a couple of M92s I want as well..

And for what it's worth, I bought some molds and things several years ago. They have been stored ever since. Actually 3" turns out to be the perfect barrel length for .44 Spl, if my Rossi 720 is any indication. We all sorta wonder why shooting that thing is addictive, I mean we enjoy shooting all the guns but man, that one calls to ya...

I aaaaaaaaaaaalmost bought a 696 at a previous gun show. It was harder to justify since I did have the 720 already and they're basically the same thing, of course it's not a Smith. It also was without lock, though, and it hurt to pass on it. Lucky I did, or I'd never have been able to get the 625.

Chad,

The mold is very similar to what you can get from Cast Performance and Beartooth Bullets. They are the LBT design. (more or less)

I did order a couple of boxes from CastPerformance and have yet to load them up.

I too have a Rossi 92, like Steve, and can't wait to try it out. I will be using 11.5gr of W296 to start with.

A little discussion on another thread prompts this post.......my first attempts with this design will entail use of softer alloys, half WW and half unalloyed lead with the gas check in the Bishawk. I'm hoping things hold together accuracy-wise past 1200 FPS, to get some expansion on impact perhaps. Not so much a classic mushroom, just a rivet-up would be fine.

Al-
The half/half alloy mushrooms very well with a deep hollowpoint 44 at 900 fps, proven on a deer last year. I have tested a 358429 hollow point on a road killed doe and got full penetration with nice expansion crosswise and kittycorner thru the rib cage in 38/44 type loads with this alloy also. I suspect you will have no problem at 1200 fps with a solid with air cooled boolits. This alloy will also expand in rifle calibers very nicely if water dropped.

Al, I sold my LBT 180 FN that this is a near copy of after I bought one of theses in the 2nd group buy, by my count this is the 4th or 5th. They shoot the same and are accurate in a 4 5/8" blackhawk to well over 1350 fps but I have never slowed them down enough to see if it is accurate a 850-950 fps. One coyote is the sole animal shot with this and he took 1 step. Gianni.

I sure hope you are right, after shooting boolits from Jeffs mold I am more anxious than ever, my max loves em from his mold, I can outshoot j boolits with them. The first couple of groups with both LILGUN, and VHIT N-120 had my mouth gaping wide on one side an a cheshire grin on the other. I said aloud "These expletive boolits just won't shoot" As I and my ol man approached the 100 yard pile he called my bluff, and me a liar.

I cannot wait to make this post:

First of welcome to the asylum, and enjoy yourself.

My load that has performed thee best so far has been :

22.5 gr. H-LilGun
rem 7 1/2 primer

2091 FPS
SD of 29
and little tiny groups when I do my job, even out to 200 off the bench.

I will say work up to it safely, but I can also say I have gone beyond it a ways and gained nothing at all in a custom full bull 15 inch encore "PISTOL" that wears Harris bipods. It is really more of a hand rifle but for southern Michigan deer hunting it follows the rules, and that is its purpose in life..

THE MOLDS ARE IN

THE BIG BROWN TRUCK OF HAPPINESS WAS HERE TODAY...------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I HAVE CAST ABOUT 200 BOOLITS WITH ONE OF THE MOLDS I GRABBED AT RANDOM.

I will over the next couple of days do some casting and measuring, but the first mold looks good. It cast my 9 to 1 / ww to lino and water dropped at .3605 all the other dimensions measure up really close also. I simply degreased it smoked it and commenced to pourin, after about 20 pours she was slingin boolits so that one mold out of the middle of box 3 looks good. I will do some more testing and if all is well and I can get USPS click and ship figured out they will be shipped Monday thru Wednesday of next week. they will be shipped in the order the checks were recieved.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The only thing BAD I have to report right now is that cavity number 3 on this mold had a burr that had to be leemented in the first lube groove, two minute fix and she was up and running full steam ahead...I simply spun a boolit it in with a self tap screw and we were off to the races.. Looking at some of the other molds, this burr is apparent there also, but is typical of a lee mold so nothing out of normal to report..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All the molds have a "rough" finish where the sides of the lube grooves are concerned. It is nothing I have not seen in other lee molds and is par for the course I suppose. Like I said I simply put some jewelers rouge on a boolit and spun it a few times and everything was hunky dory. If any person has an issue with that area it will be up to said Individual to take it up with lee, I am happy and with a little leementing I am sure most of you will be too.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I AM HAPPY WITH MY MOLD and hopefully it shoots as good as JEFFS' boolits did for me. I may get to shoot some yet this weekend if I do you will be informed of the results.

Thanks to all and I hope you like em' cause there comin at ya's..looks like LEE got it as close as they ever do, wich is perfect enough for me..

I will check my caliper readings tomorrow with dads mic just to make sure the caliper ain't lying, it is not the best unit out there, if there is a drastic difference I will report it.

JEFF: thanks for letting them know about my evil little box issues

It is still possessed, I have professional help coming monday.

As far as the molds are concerned they will be shipped ASAP, and starting Monday. I will have to ship through the Post office instead of click and ship like I had planned, but they will be shipped.

The boolits shoot good, although they are not perfectly round as cast, and there are a few burrs here and there to be leemented, you would think Lee made these molds. I shot some this morning and they shot just fine, the measurements are close enough for me, even though they are not perfectly round, they do shoot.

I also shot some with JEFF at the range fri, and they shot decent, even with the wrong charge,,,I tried downloading to see if I could gain more accuracy,,it did not work. Took charge back up to where it was before I had to screw with it AND TAHDAH I got my groups back. MY GUN is definately a 22.5 grains of lilgun with this boolit,, anymore makes it no better, any less makes it worse.

The molds will be shipped in three waves as to not overwhelm the guy behind the counter at the PO.. I hope you all are as happy as I am with them..

I may not be available for comments/questions until I hold the seance' and boot the poltergeist out of my computer,,,just a heads up....if that don't work I am gonna find out what these boolits will do to a computer.....

9 to 1
ww to lino =.3590 to .3605 depending on "where" on the boolit you measure., and this was with over 30 boolits taken at random from 200 or so cast at one sitting. I would imagine air cooled ww would be a tad FATTER, but not much.

After I "SPUN" a boolit in the mold with jewelers rouge to remove burrs on the crimp groove and lube grooves I got a relatively uniform .3605 all around and my .3595 sizer would finally touch all the boolit. , before treatment they would not touch everywhere.

This has been typical with the leementing in four of their 6 cavities I have played with...it would be better with no burrs to begin with, but typical Lee..

Many times Lee moulds will have a slight "wire edge" that makes a very small burr at the edge of teh cavities. I usually remedy this by using a snug fitting plug of 0000 steel wool spun on the end of an appropriately sized stick. Chopsticks from that last trip to the Chinese buffet work great. Of the half dozen or so Lee moulds I've bought I don't remember one that didn't need some small amount of finish work of some kind before it'd operate like it should.

Good,
Fast,
Cheap.

Pick any two.

SteveB: I am pretty sure you are not getting it, cause I remember labeling yours, my wife must have grabbed the used mold and labeled it off the coffe table where it was laying.

I am thinking the mold went out west, because that is about when I laid my boxed mold on the coffee table. I am waiting to use the mold I have here until I know what the recipient of my oops wants to do. I am going to wait a few days and if I do not hear any complaining, I am going to start using it, cause I really need some boolits... and the extra mold I ordered got snatched 10 minutes after I shippped the order to lee. I have almost 1000 pieces of brass waiting for this boolit and some LilGun..I want to be intimate with this combo by the 15th of November..and times a wastin..So iffin ya's goin to complain, do so rapidly so we can get the issue fixed, if not this mold too will be used. I cannot see anyone being upset, but you just never know, now do ya?

Personally I would rather have the sooty mold with the brand new perfect sprue plate as it is ready to mould, but it will be quicker, and cheaper to just "FIX" the one I have here..just like I did on the used mold, but like I said it is up to the recipient to whether or not he wants to leement it hisself or not, if he acts soon, because I am really in dire need of some projectiles...

Well, as Maxwell Smart would say; "Missed it by that much". Your Leemented mould was one of the two shipped to Tycer in Asheville, NC. As MY luck would have it, he grabbed the old sooty one with the grayish sprueplate out of the package first, leaving the shiney new one for me. I'm on the phone with him right now and I think you'd get some argument from him about swapping.<G> He said go ahead and use the new mould, he's just as happy with a dirty used mould .

Well, I am sure glad that is settled, just one more time in my life when I worried without need. The ol lee pot will get warm tonight...

Thanks guys this has been fun, and I hope you all have good luck with your efforts. We ended up with a few dollars left in the kitty, it will go to help support this wonderful site. A big thanks to those who sent a little extra, and you know who you are, without it we would have come up a lil short, because of the deliver conformation I could not get for free, because my computer died. it will go to good use.....a check will be sent to the admin

my advise to those who have contacted me since the buy has been over is to wait awhile and pick up the reigns and run another buy on this nice boolit..it is really not that big a deal to honcho one of these buys, it takes a little time yes, but no big deal really.. there is around 11 or 12 interested parties already

Thank you's should go to the buyers not me, it was for selfish reasons I ran this thing. I wanted the mold, pure and simple and this was the only way I could get it without paying the extra for the setup fee. ...THANK YOU ALL...

These group buys are simply brilliant, and I will go broke getting the ones I "NEED".

Thanks again

All the molds are enroute, you should see it pdq, if not let me know, I have the confirmation slips right here. Wed was when the last of em went out..but most were sent monday and tuesday, and the only reason some had to go on wed was the post office was backing up, and not wanting to be "THAT GUY" I came back in wed morn to finish up.

I checked my mould again and have burrs or indents? on three cavities it looks like at the lube grooves. But only on one of the mould halves. The other half there looks to be none at all.

Thanks for all your hard work.

Tried mine out today after removing some sizable burrs. Man, that thing is rough inside. Definitely will need some leementing. Does make a sweet looking bullet though. Mine are dropping at 182 grains. Going to try and send some downrange tomorrow.

Went to the P.O. today and mine was in the box. Not to rough looking so should not take much work to get it going.

Some were definately "rougher" than others, but they should all leement nicely. Luck of the draw as to how much work was involved, though. I did quite a bit of leementing on this mold I have here "now", but she shaped up nicely, not as easily as the first one, but she came around all the same, and she is throwing good boolits now, and dropping out real well, unless I get it too hot. I have been casting with two different lee 6 bangers at a time so that the wait time is nil.

Load one sit it down to cool, load the other, sit it down to cool, empty no1 refill sit it down, etc etc etc....works real well...even for an impatient soul..speed casting with the wet towel method, I have never beem able to not tear the base so I went to this system, and it works..plus you can feed two guns at the same time.

Loaded some up with soft-ish lead pipe alloy for the max tonight, will report success or failure as soon as I shoot them.

Mine got here Tuesday. Haven't had a chance to heat it up but that won't be for too much longer. Looks like a real good bullet and I'm gonna give it a work out in my 35 Remington 14" Contender barrel. Should also be very good in a couple of 357 Mags I have hidden around here somewhere. LOL ... I know right where they are. Thanks again Michael. Gonna try that lube you sent me with those bullets. I think its gonna be a good combination.

Anybody else notice????????

After having my new mould in possession for abou two weeks I finally had time to heat it up today. Cool and VERY rainy here so no range time for me and Tycer, so I figured I try out the mould.

Burrs weren't too bad so all I did was spin 0000 steel wool on an old bore brush in each cavity. 1 small chip protruding from two of the cavities didn't come out, but judicious application of a screwdriver blade took care of them.

After reaching temp the mould cast nicely but still took 5 or 6 sharp whacks with a lightweight wood mallet to release all 6 bullets. No consistancy in which cavities were being stubborn so it wasn't because of rough edges on the cavities.

Cosmeticly the bullets look really good. Trouble came when I dragged out the mic. All six cavities are consistantly .005-.006 out of round. There's that much difference from one side of the parting line to the other. If you take the average, the bullets would be about .3595 since the smallest diameter runs .3565-.357 and the largest is .362-.3625.

"A little disappointed" in Lee would be somewhat of an understatement. This is the first group buy I've been in on, and it'll probably be my last. I think I'd rather put a few more $$ toward having Dan Lynch cut me a GOOD two cavity that makes round bullets than having a six holer that drops "plinking" bullets.

Well, it's not all the molds. Mine drop from the mold at .359" across the narrow and .360" at the widest point. I would not mind them being a tad fatter, but they will prolly end up about perfect by the time I get the cavities smoothed out enough to drop the bullets easily.

I measured one of mine and it measures .358-.361 at widest.

Sent mine back to Lee today. Noticed some play in alignment pin/socket at the sprue plate pivot end. Guy I talked to said it sounded like it wasn't closing completely, but if that had been the case they'd have just been fatter perpendicular to the parting line rather than offset AT the parting line.

Hope to be able to check it out again by teh end of next week. Lee's REALLY good about customer service from what I've read. I had a special order sizer delivered in about a week as opposed to the 3 or so weeks they'd stated.

We'll see.

First batch of mine seemed to be in the .357 - .3575 area.
That's with straight WW's.

Next batch will be 50/50 lead/lino see if alloy makesa difference.

Got my "repaired" mould back from Lee in 8 days. "Thought" I might have detected traces of the smoke I'd put on it before I sent it in, but couldn't be sure. It was in a new box, (I'd stamped my name and address in and on the original one), and the new one came back marked "358 180gr". I couldn't detect the nicks that had been in a couple of the cavities, and the "offset" of the blocks came out .001"-.0015", diameter .359"-.3595". Sizing them in a .359 just barely polishes the bands, and the offset shows on most of them. I can live with .001" out.

Haven't made it to the range yet to see how they shoot in my Marlin and EMF Hartford. Spent my last two days off trying to make a place for the truckload of casting/reloading stuff I bought last week.

I've not measured my bullets yet. They shoot ok. I have noticed only one side of my bullets seem to contact the sizer. They must be slightly out of round. I do need to beat on the mold to get it to release. The very hard bullets release without much beating. The only major problim I have is a broken sprue lever. I'm going to send it to lee for a replacement. I didn't think I was strong enough to break it through normal use.
