I think I am going to move from the Lee push through bullet sizer and Alox to a Lyman 4500 set up... I am going to use the stick lubes... so what do you all think, SPG or Alox?? (Will I need heat with either or these...?)

25/20 85 grain RCBS 25-85 ~1100fps
357 (carbine) 173 Keith ~14-1600 fps
30-30 311041 GC ~1700 fps
45-70 405 plain base ~1300 fps
50-95 lyman 515139 ~1300 fps

Thanks. Joe

Lar's B.A.C. should do ya for all those and more with no heat and you can't beat the price! link at the bottom of the page

oops I guess i didn't think before writing - it looks like you might be shooting black powder - if so check out lar's bp lube - still much cheaper than spg and just as good

Another vote for Lar's. THe best lube for the best price. I like the BAC, can be used on warm days w/o a heater. The 50/50 will also work, but a bit more sticky.

I made a mistake when I ordered BAC.

I only ordered 10 sticks. Now I use it for everything!

bac is a good lube and will do what you want easily as should his red.
b.t.w. midway has the 4500 and the heater base on sale now.

BAC is indeed great stuff, but I found I liked the Carnuba Red even better. It does require a bit of heat. If ordering a new 4500, go ahead and spring for the heater. Even if you don't use it now, you may want it later. The red is really great and the boolits are completely non-sticky at normal room temp.

LARS has not offered his BP lube for some time now. It's a great product if he has it. If you are shooting the real powder then look at Bullshops NASA that he sells. It does great, it takes about 2 weeks to receive sometime but it's worth it.

Lars ran out of the original batch of beeswax for his BP lube and was not satisfied with the results of substitutes. A few weeks ago, he was looking around for remaining caches of the Navy surplus beeswax we were buying out of Nevada a few years back. Dunno how much luck he had at finding some.

I make my own usually. I've been running 50/50 for a few years as I got a lot for free, but when that's gone, back to Felix.

SPG is fine for black powder too so there's the advantage there.

Otherwise I'd use 50/50 alox beeswax (you didn't mention if it was mixed or pure?)
