Last year I played around with . 452 Lyman 225 gr., cast bullets and sabots. In my Thompson Reneged 50 cal. I really did not do much work with them, but what I did. I was not getting that great of a group. and went back to the Lee Real bullets. For Deer season. Has anyone else tried this. And had any better luck. I think if I can get them to work, they will make a pretty decent Deer load.

When I swage bullets for sabots, I put a slight taper at the back of the bullet to kinda match the taper on the inside of the sabot. That keeps the loaded sabot/bullet from being much thicker at the base of the bullet when loading down the barrel. Helps accuracy alot. A heavier bullet usually is more accurate, up to 400 grains or so. If you are pushing them hard, you might try high pressure sabots. Soft sabots with heavy charges tend to overexpand the skirt and blow the bullet off course when it exits the barrel.
