Give me some ideas on what Lyman or Ideal molds to use for a 30-40 Krag in a Springfield.
I already have all the Lee 30 cal molds .

6pt-: Lyuman/ideal 311284 and 311 299 are "Old standards "in 30/40. Use 314299 if nec.in the larger bores one sees fttt.in the this rifle... Onceabull :castmine: l

I have had good luck with 311291 in the Krags. Seat the bullet out so the top lube groove (not the crimp groove) is just inside the case neck. I also have much better luck sizing bullets .313 or .314 depending on the style of the bullets. The Loverine style bullets can go .314, but with most others .313 is as large as you can go without shaving lead.

They all work!! Just about all the recognized "good" 30 caliber moulds are acceptable. I've had the best accuracy with the 314299 because it fits the throat in my gun better than anything else I have. The RCBS 30-180-FN is a very close second. I size everything .311 but some 311291s sized .309 did about as well as those sized .311.

I'm using 311284 in my Krag. Sized .312, kind of, don't really touch the bullet, just puts lube on it. Seated out as long as possible.
