NEI Handtools #378C, the "Lakota Spencer" design - .314"/325 grains.

I'd sure like to try a small sampling of these before I invest in a mould.

If you go for a custom mold, thicken up them skirts some.

Let us know how you make out w/ the NEI mold once you get it If you get it.

I don't want to try the design out "as is", but I think the truncated cone design is the key to making a Spencer run better. I would definitely go for thicker driving bands and do away with the hollow base. If the TC design works, I'd probably design my own and have Mountain Molds cut the block.

do a search on the SSS forum and see what some have already done, It appeared to me like they would be willing to send you some to try out.

I've asked a bunch of Spencer questions there, and it seems that some folks have a bullet that works perfectly in theirs, but it won't work for someone else with a seemingly identical repro. All the bullets I've tried work "fair", but I think the TC design is the key to working better. Problem is that no one makes such a mould other than the NEI design posted above. I think I can just chuck a few RN's in my lathe and turn the ogive down to a TC style and see if they work.
