First Variation Marlin 444

I had kinda been keeping my eye open for one of these. But had refrained from purchasing so far.
A friend that collects mostly Colt and Winchester gave me a call last night and was telling me he had one that was in about 92.5% . And needless to say we struck up a deal / trade . Haven't seen it yet , but this guy is honest almost to a fault.[smilie=1:

Lets see this will make three Marlin 444's in my pile of junk .

You will like the rifle 6-pt! I have a 1972 444T and it is a super rifle. I thought about buying the new XLR but have decided that my "T" does everything that I need. I don't feel the need to shoot heavy cast as my 265-grain lead bullets have dropped everything that I've shot at with the rifle.

I also have a 444P and it was my favorite until the "T" arrived. I do like the Monte Carlo stocks on the early rifles as they deliver a more consistant sight picture than the carbine stocks.

Well based on your 444 fact sheet , my 444P was made in 2000 and my 444SS was made in 2004.
I've not seen or heard the seriel number on the 444T yet:???:

The price in that add picture makes you wanna cry almost. Reminds me of when the CL's came out in 218 , 25-20 and 32-20 . I was working weekends in a local gunshop . Well as I can remember I could have bought all three NIB for $675 . Now NIB is about $650 for one :???: But back then I didn't want anything to do with them .
