Going through some old Ideal moulds I recently picked up I find a single cavity 323470. It's supposed to be about a 160 grain bullet and may be a little pointy for use in a tube magazine but would work fine singly or loaded as a 2 shooter.

Don't know yet what size the boolits will drop at but if they are in the .323 to . 325
size range I see possibilities for use in a 32 special. Anyone tried these for that purpose?

..............My copy of that mould drops WW slugs at a tad over .325" and weight 168grs. The Loverin design is easily sized, and .325" to .321/.322" is no big deal. I sized mine from .323" to .314" for a problematic M1909 Argentine. If you want a FN, use a FN punch and when the slug is fully supported in the die, just bear down on the handle a bit. Voila', a FN.

If you want to get fancy you can fab up a spacer to sit atop the die nut for a ram stop. Just by feel should be good enough though.

Buckshot; The only concern I have will be seating depth as the nose diameter is carried well forward and is not reduced as in normal 32 Special designs. However it's a realtively short boolit and may be fine for reduced loads by seating tight to the lands. It seems I've been waiting forever for a proper mould I have on order and I must be getting antsy to try some cast in the rifle.

Stocker,
It should work just fine from the .32 Special. I ran a whole bunch of them through a .32-40 I had with superb accuracy after sizing from .325 to .320 ( it was the only thing I had that would stabilize in a rechambered 20" twist Martini Cadet). Used about 14.5 gr of IMR 4227, IIRC.:-D

Hornet: Sounds good. I'll only be reducing to .322 or .323 so shouldn't disrupt much at all. Maybe tomorrow I'll get some time to cast and see what they are going to drop out at.

Stocker - That bullet works great for me in the .32 Special; The load is 17 gr. of 4227. I used a flat-point top punch in the Lyman lubrisizer, which puts enough of a flat on the nose to avoid any worry about primers in the Win 94 tubular magazine. It doesn't have to be seated too deeply in the case, I think 3 grooves are hanging out in the air.

26Charlie: Thanks for the specific info. I'd forgotten about getting that mould and haven't used it as no 8mm rifle and the 32 Special just acquired recently. Pays to hang on to everything whether you have an immediate need or not.
