I have an old Lee mould, long discontinued, that I seldom use. It's a single-cavity 454-252-SWC Hollowpoint design.

If I were to offer such a mould for sale, about what would it be worth?

They're not worth that much. I'll buy it from you for $5 plus shipping. [smilie=s: Just kidding. lol Ive seen them go for as much as $90 on ebay.

How kind and honest of you. I may just list it on eBay to see what kind of bidding war I can create. Selling this one might allow me to buy three new moulds -- and some lead!

What'cha think?

I've been surprised by the price some of the current production molds bring on Ebay. It may surprise us what that one will fetch.

it's a shame they quit making them.

All you need to do is restamp it so one of the letters is backwards & you can spend the rest of your life on easy street. E-bay is full of fools, with too much money.

Gee, maybe they'd believe me if I claimed the "W" is backwards, huh? LOL!

I did list it there (no, that is NOT a plug!). I'll post the final selling price here, as some of you are curious.

On Ebay anything with "HOLLOW POINT" in the description is going to go for at least $75.00.

I've seen the pin alone go for allot when you can just buy a replacemnt pin.

A 158 grain SWC HP mould just sold last week on Ebay for $68. I have a 150 gr. hollowpoint mould already for .38/.357. Casts a great boolit. I've been temped to get one of the Lee 158 gr. RF moulds for .38/.357 and making the mould into a hollow point boolit. I like that design.

Lee molds in one and two cavity moulds are a problem to hollowpoint due to the alignment pins lying across the path of the placement of the hollowpoint pin. You may be able to get around this by adapting to the Lyman/RCBS method of a dowel type pin mated into a steel sleeve on the other half. A lot of work, but if you have the tools and time, it is doable IMHO. Another method that I have been toying with would be to cut the alignment pin in half and use a flat surface to aid the blocks into alignment.

Also if you use words like, classic and rare, really gets the price up there for some reason. Both in the same sentence is sure to double the value.

Man that mould brings back memories.

List it on flea-bay as limited production, rare, classic! Casts a devastating HOLLOW POINT!

she's purrrrdie.

People on ebay are crazy, there was someone who had numerous 6 cavity molds on there for $79.99 buy it now only. Natchez has them for $32.

Even though the Lee alignment pin hole is crimped a bit to hold the pin in, a scraping with a pocket knife will take off enough of the aluminum crimp to let the alignment pin back out. Did it on another mould. The alignment pin backed out half way will work I'd think, then letting the hollowpoint pin have enough room.
I would have the two bullet mould, and leave one solid, and make one hollowpoint. This could be done for alot cheaper than you can buy a hollowpoint mould !!

I bumped the thread because of the interest in it.

The auction ends in three hours, and so far there are only five bids to $36.00. But the thing has 25 watchers. The last few hours might get interesting!

Well, it closed with eight bids for $46. That didn't meet even the low estimate of $75 prognosticated above.

I'm happy with that, please note. I wasn't using the mould, and so it's like found money. It almost exactly paid for the two Lee moulds I have ordered. Hot dawg!
