Firing Pin

A few months ago, I picked up a 1949 Marlin 336a. From all appearances, it was used, but cared for very well. Well, during the first range session, the firing pin broke. This part has been officially discontinued by Marlin.

Long story short. I can't find a new one anywhere. My gunsmith claims to have checked with everyone, including Numrich arms.

If anyone would be so kind as to let me know where I could find one (or two) I'd be appreciative.

Western Firearms in Beverly hills australia (they have a web site) Have lots of Marlin spares, they bought out the distributor's supply when they went out of business. They ship everywhere. Probably better off getting a one piece one from one of the cowboy shooting suppliers.

If you have a lathe and the tip of the pin is what's broke, center drill the body and silver solder in a new tip made from a drill bit. This will last for 30 years or so. Any machinist should be able to do this for you even on a mini lathe.

I think if YOU go to e-gunparts and check you'll find that they do have "Firing Pin, Front, Old Style, Item No. 1054460A" and you can order it yourself. At least they had it when I checked.
