For your consideration...
As part of my continuing effort to find "lite" loads for my big-bores to hunt deer and hogs down here in the S.E.. ( My goal for this project has been 1700-1800 fps.) I have arrived at a good one for my 375 H&H using WC-846 I'd like to share:
Lyman 375449, 50/50 WW/ Pb, sized .377, Hornady gas check.
With my alloy this is dropping out @ 276.5 nominal. Sorted +/- 0.5 gns.
NRA-alox lube.
47.0 gn. WC-846.
WLRM primer.
Mv(ave): 1834 fps.
No problems with ignition, no filler, no leading. Out of my Mauser, this load is consistently grouping under an inch @ 50 with three shots going into one hole, and two more going into another hole next to it about 1/4" away.
I would also add that another one that looks real good is 28gns. Blue Dot. I've not done much more with that one however since I have a LOT more WC-846 than I have Blue Dot.
