I have a rcbs 300gr 45 rifle boolit mold that casts .458 and want to lap the molt to increase the diameter to .460. I have silicon carbide lapping compound starting at 220 grit all the way up to 1000 grit. Any suggestions are appreciated. Frank

.002" is a long way to lap, in my limited experience. I would suggest Beagling (shimming) the mould with strips of aluminum tape. You will need to tape both faces of the mould to get .002" I would guess.

redneckdan---You beagled a mold and got .004 before you started flashing. How big a crowd did you flash? You get on tv?

How big a crowd did you flash? If it doubled, it would have been .008.
Is that considered a big crowd?
