I have cast a batch of boolits with new (to me) .358009 mold. Weigh about 282 grains with my mix, mike about .3605 ,barely touching machine marks on driving bands when sized to .360.Life is good. So Iam looking for a good heavy load, maybe make 2000 fps with this boolit. Prevoiusly my heaviest boolit was the 245 grain Saeco. I found good loads using both 3031 and 4320 for that bullet, I'd like to use either one of those or 748, BLC2, Varget, Benchmark, all of which I have plenty of. Some others here are using this boolit, with the .358, What are your favorite hard hitters for this caliber? :D:lovebooli

I'm cheap, so have always used WC 852, and WC 852(F). Get great accuracy! There are more .358 Junkies here who can most likely help you out.

i haven't been able to find that 35809 mold but with the saeco 245 48-50 grs of rl-19 has been very fast and accurate for me.
about all the recoil i wanna handle too.
i just went with a jacketed load from the book, backed iit down and worked it up.
benchmark might have some possibilities here.

I found data for a 275 grain jacketed bullet in one of my older manuals (hodgdons) and thats close enough to the 282 grain that I could use starting loads for that and work up. It just doesn't have all the powders listed that are available today.

i will try and get some worked up in the next 2 or 3 months. Just had to move and stuff is all packed still, but perhaps we can share experiences with a good CB ctg and that neat lyman mould.

I'm going to start out with 3031, tomorrow, and see how it does.:p

I've had good results with 3031, and even better results with Varget. It ought to give that big boolit a good long push too. Ron.D

So far, In the Shilen barrel Reminton 700, I've worked my way up to 35 gr. 3031. I started at 30 gr. ,got a few of my best groups at around 32.5 gr. but seems like it is coming back in at 35gr. More tests today!

Ramshot TAC is my "new" favorite powder for the .358

Based on my experience with 2520, I would start with 40 grains of BL-C2 or maybe a bit less 748 (38 grains).
