Has anyone used 473 powder for a 158swc in the 38spl / 357 pistols? They did some time back, but I do not have any old books. Thanks beng

I had the Ninth and Twelfth Edition of the Winchester guidebooklet handy, and neither shows loads for 473. The 12th showed them for 452, so maybe someone with a Tenth or Eleventh handy (or if I can dig mine out from wherever they've gone) can help.

473 is a medium-burning powder as pistol powders go. You could probably work off another powder's data. SR-7625 would probably be close, but let me keep digging for you.

From: Handloader's Digest, 12 Ed., You Can Do a Lot With Shotgun Powders, D. Zutz
"It doesn't perform well in spacious rifle cartridges or deliver in handgun cases. A guess is that 473AA will be dropped as Winchester's new line of Improved Ball Powders comes on line."
