When I degreased the scope mount holes on the top of the matte black finished receiver on my Marlin 1894P, I got a little of the degreaser on the finish, and it partially took it off ! It didn't come all the way off, but it definitely has a lighter spot.
What is the finish, and what can I use to re-do it ?
I called Marlin, and the guy I talked to couldn't tell me, and said he would get back to me. I am hoping he will, but if anybody knows the answer, I would appreciate hearing it here first, please. It almost looks like flat black stove paint, or it could be some kind of a black oxide finish I guess.
