16.5 grs. of IMR4227 shoot pretty good out of mine.
I shoot a custom 700 with a 1/16" twist.

I've been watching this thread for a few days now. I think its sad that this load has never really caught on. I always thought that the biggest mistake in gun purchases was buying my TC years ago as a super 14 in 222 rem. A great gun and load but a 10 inch 221 would have been better. I think in a rifle with a bull barrel of minimum legal length it would be a real killer, better than a hornet.

I searched for several years for either a 221 or 222 10" bull barrel for my contender. I had no problem finding lots of octogon barrels but no 222 or 221 barrels. Then I was strolling down a asile at a large gunshow and what did it see? one of each side by side on a table. I walked away with the 221 thinking that it would be better for a 10" barrel than the 222. I put a scope on it and it shoots sub min. of angle at 100 yds. with ME shooting it. It does like 52gr or less bullets though. I am going to try some cast in it real soon as Saeco just mailed my 221 replacement mould back to me this week!

Waco:

I haven't loaded it yet (it's on the to-do list), but from what I was able to gather the Fireball did really well with Lil' Gun.

See if this link comes through:

My most accurate rifle in my entire life, including the bull barrelled Rem 700, 223 n 22-250s. It prefers the 40gr to 50gr but does not shoot 55gr as well. By that I mean that with 55 gr it gives as good of groups as any 224 cal rifle I ever had. Just that the 40/45/50 give half the size groups! Hornady V-Max and the Nosler both shoot best of the jacketed.

The thread below covers my cast bullets and shows a target with a 100yd group.

LilGun is hands down the best powder. I tried all 6 that were listed in its burning speed range from the various mfg.

Note: I have the CZ too. Love the trigger when set, hate to pull it when not. Otherwise it's the first rifle that I ever had without a list of mods/ tweeks/cleanup after the first shooting session, fine workmanship. However, I have been told some have to have the barrel channel worked to free float it to get the accuracy it is capable of. My was great right out of the box!!!!!!!!!!

I've shot a lot of Reloader #7 in my two custom barreled Remington 700's primarily with 40 VMax and Nosler BT's. My gunsmith's reamer left a rather generous throat so I was able to seat bullets out a bit more than normal and I get some very respectable velocity readings from the chronograph. Just work up a load until your rifle tells you to stop. Mine are outstandingly accurate! I love that little caliber!

I am very serious about buying a barrel and a set of dies for my TC.

I just ordered a Lee .225 Bator 6 cav. mold for this gun. Can't wait to give it a try with cast.

I don't have my notes handy, but my daughters 221 will put five 50 gr v-max in a 1/2" group at 100yds with a max charge of RL-7. I never tried the 40's as I had the 50's on hand and can't complain about the accuracy.

My Brno Fox II is a converted 22 Hornet to 221 Fireball. I use ADI 2205, equivelant to 4227, 16gn, behind the 40gn Vmax. Pulls half inch groups for me. 50gn loads (nosler shots) open up to just under 2 inch, but I haven't any formal loads for that projectile yet.
