I have been looking for a new bullet to start casting and I finally found a nice Savage 30-06 tactical to tinker with. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for molds that they have gotten really good results with. Or some good load data. I will be using BLC-2 and H335 powders since I have about 15 lbs of each powder.

Thanks in Advance

Was in the Ford garage getting the company P-U repaired this morning and took my Lee manual to read...WOW all sorts of info on cast boolit load's and loading...also had reloading data for cast bullets in the 30-30, .308 and 30-06.... plus how to figure out loading data for other cal. in relation to boolit BHN and pressures........the 30-06 data for cast starts on page 149....has data(with pressures) for the powders you listed in just about all boolit wts. If you don't have his manual borrow one.... It's worth it.........

..............The 30-06 and other 'True 30's are easy to get good results from with a ton of excellent loads out there. The fast 10" twist isn't required for cast boolit use but it doesn't appear to be just terrible.

Two really good loads, and boolits are both Lyman designs. The 311284 for a heavy one (~215grs) and the 311291 @ 175grs. Powders for either can be 18.0 SR4759 or 4227, or maybe 23.0grs of 4198. I like to use dacron in these. Or just go with the old fav, 16.0 2400 or 10.0 Unique.

I remember many many years ago I had the little Lee C309-113F, known around here as the Soup Can loaded over some dis-recalled load in my scoped Ruger M77 30-06. I don't recall the range either but it just stacked those things in on top of each other. I just had to show them to the rangemaster.

I'll never forget his remark. He said, "That dang 30-06 will shoot anything".
