went to a town wide yard sale today with the war dept. one woman had a table covered in blocks of wax. 6"x6"x 4". Postal scale says 5 lbs. all were scented. I asked her for plain but she didnt have any. my question is can i use this in my homemade lube?? got beeswax, now pariffin and grease. if not, guess its a $5.00 air freshner.

Yrrrr gonna smell nice on the range. Be cautious of yellow jackets this time of year, they are attracted to perfumes.

I don't know if the guy is still on ebay, but he was selling scented bullet lube!

Slightly off topic, but Don Shay (DGP Shay, West Covina, CA) used to sell scented, bullet lubes (required a heat source) with interesting names, e.g., "Odorous Orange Prime." The stuff was reasonably priced, especially if you bought the bread loaf pan size and worked well: Smelled good too. I suspect Odorous Orange.... is the parent of Lyman's Orange lube.

Being both old and broke I use about any type of old candle for the parrafin in my lubes. I sometimes get an odd look or two when I have a friend, yes I do have a friend, over and we are sharing the range benches on my range. I used some X-mas candles once and kinda liked the piney scent to my boolit lube. Using them hasn`t rusted my gun barrels off the stocks yet nor made me go blinder than I already am so they must be fine to use.Robert

i like the angel food cake,or vanilla scented candles they smell really nice ,when fired.
you need to be careful about some combinations though.
had some once the wife called sweaty ass crack lube, it stank but i wasn't gonna make a direct comparison.
the scented candles do make better lube than the regular ones or praaffin. i.m.o.

It boils down to how much parrafin are you mixing in your lube. How much shooting are you doing to use up the lube to determine how much you should go back for. I would guess that 10 lbs. or at the worst case 15 lbs. would last a serious shooter for many years, possibly lifetime.Robert

i usually mix it with beeswax as it has a different pore size.
usually in a 60-40 ratio so 6 lbs of b-wax to 5 lbs and assorted lubricants makes about 12-13 lbs of lube.
at about 10 sticks to the lb thats about 120 sticks or enough to lube 3-500 boolits a stick times 120. or 36,000 to 60,000 boolits.
about 3-4 years worth.
lets see about 30-50 boolits to the lb of lead is about 1,000 lbs of lead required to use it up.

There are a couple sources on "Evil-Bay" that are selling both colored and scented beeswax in sheet form; not expensive either.

Just my .02 worth.
