Whether it is at the range or in the field. Lets hear about those guns that have just always been there and done the job.

My gun that fits the bill is my Chinese SKS. All most every time I whip this gun into action, either on varmints, predators or targets, it just never lets me down.

My old standby, Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt 5.5" barrel. No frills, no fancy laser grips, no night sights, just a stock standard 6 gun.

Benelli Nova, ugly damn thing, I trust it completely. If I gotta kill a varmit, goose, turkey, or whatever it's there ready willing and able, I love the magazine disconnect on it, if it doesn't have the right load stoked in the mag for what I need, it's simple to leave it loaded and single load it. A great design. IMO the modern upgrade to the good ole 870, of which I'm also a fan.

My old 2-3/4" Ruger Security-Six has not missed a beat since '77.
I don't know how much it has fired as I bought it used and since have put another 30K or so through it.

Not impressive by any means, my Stevens 940. A gift for my 13th birthday, the single shot 12 gauge, my only gun through out my teen years has defended my family and put plenty of meat on my table. It hasn't been used for years but always goes along for a ride as a back-up when I'm hunting with a shotgun.

Winchester & Marlin leverguns; never had either brand let me down.

Never met a Mil-Surp bolt gun that gave me any trouble either.

Handgun: My oldest Colt 1911.

Shotgun: Ithaca 37.

Rifle: My first Garand.

None of them are the most accurate guns (and the Garand is easily the least accurate Garand I have), but they always manage to cover for me and make the hit. Strange doings, but I won't question it.

My Great Uncle died in 1980 and left me a LeFever 12 ga. double. There ain't a bird in the air that left hand barrel can't catch.

My Ruger .45 Colt Vaquero. Just like a Bic, first time every time.

My Gibbs Summit is definitely my "go to" bolt action.

Sako L-61 7mm Rem. Mag. Got it 40 years ago when I turned 13. Dropped my first big game animal, my biggest Deer and whenever the crosshairs cover the heart/lung area it is death and destruction.

A Winchester Model 770 in .222 Rem that I bought in 1967. Amazingly accurate with any load you shoot in it. Group under 1/2" MOA are common. It's my "kitchen door" gun for when I need to reach out and touch something around the farm.

Charter BD 44, Smith '17, Smith Kit Gun, '93 Mauser 7x57, Savage 99 303 and 308. None have failed me. There's a much, much longer list of guns that failed once or twice and couple that have issues.

That sounds a lot like my mother-in-law and the 'look of death'.
She has passed on but my wife can do a fair impression.
Maybe I should leave the gun at home and take the wife.[smilie=l:

Any one of a dozen Colt or Kimber M1911s, a nickel Smith M57 6" and an 1895 Winchester .30-40.

Really a Kimber? I've seen more of those in the shop for repairs than any other handgun (even Hi-Points and Jennings).

My dependable are my Norinco milled AKM and my CZ 75. Battle tested weapons rarely fail.. ar-15 is the exception :kidding:

Looking now for a Ruger GP100 as I've heard its tough as nails and dependable as all getup.

A RUGER single action, tuned by Jim Stroh (ALPHA PRECISION,) or an 1894 MARLIN Cowboy rifle, preferrably 44s...but 357 are OK too. I have put a high round count through them and repairs have been mimimal. It's like a car that hits the 150,000 mile area. (My 1996 DODGE RAM 4 WD extended cab has 305,00 miles and is still going strong.)

For a handgun My Russian makarov,I cant make the thing malfunction!
For shotgun Win. model 12 in 20 ga. Thanks dad!
For rifle Rem 600 in 35 rem.
All three have never failed to do their intended missions If I did my part, I could live pretty happily with just those three if I had to.

Just about every gun that I own.

I keep them all in top condition & except for one or two that I haven't figured out the flaws in yet, they all perform well every time.

In that respect.......so far....my gun has never let me down.

M1 Garand

A wise man once told me, in the heat of prolong battle his BAR would burn up, he would look around for another to take from a dead Marine. Some times this would take days. He would grab the first M1 Garand, and fire it until he found another BAR.
In the 5 years he was island hoping, he never saw one M1 Garand jam. Of the 6600 men that started in the 6th Marine divison. HE was one of the 355 original members.

His quote was:

"When your in a jam, grab an M1 Garand, it wont"

It wasnt until I used one did I understand My Dad was much wiser than I gave him credit for.

Remington 870 20gauge.

Took MANY a dove with, limited out several times in just a few hours and two boxes of shells.

Ruger BlackHawk 44 mag.

I have owned several and they all demonstrated the same characteristic,. . . pull trigger, hit target, enough said.

Possibly one of the uglier post-64 model 70s ever made - it even has a stock finish "drip" running out of the bolt handle slot. It's a .243 sporter model I bought used in 1967, it had been glass-bedded by the original owner. Ever since it has been very accurate with any old load I wanted to try in it, and has never lost zero with the El Paso K6 scope it still wears. I am confident it will outshoot most of the "tactical", "sniper", etc. rifles I see at the range. However, I think 42 years of familiarity with a rifle has something to do with it.

okay in a handgun my Hi-Point .45's both the older jh steel frame and the newer jhp polymer frame over 10 thousand rounds each now and never a problem. can't say that about my shooting partners expensive guns.
Rifle my #5 jungle carbine and 03A3 as well as my m28 Mosin Nagant ( got to love Findland ) .
Shotgun Hands down my model 37 Ithaca's all three of them.

Don't know if it counts in respects to this question, but I'd have to say hands down, my service issue M16A2. Never once did it complain when called upon to do something.... Tax dollors well spent.

I would agree with 2ndAmendment as to the Chinese SKS but I sold both of mine some years ago. Only problem I ever had with either was a box of Brass ammo. 2 jams in 20 rounds.
But for now I'd have to say my Ruger 22/45. Probably 20k+ rounds downrange and not a single misfire, jam or anything.

Remington Model 513. I was the first rifle I ever owned. The most accurate, and the easiest to point rifle, I have ever held. It has been the provider of many meals for my family when things were tough while I was growing up. It has never failed to put the bullet where I pointed, time and time again. It has earned a special place in my heart and it is the last posession I will ever part with.

Everett
