I got this box in the mail. It has a Barrett 99 50cal in it . Should I shoot it to see if it works or just pass it on? At $4 a round I dont think I will hurt it. What do you all think?

I would suspect at $4 per round it would recoil pretty heavy--probably hurt.

Recoil isn't bad
IMO about like my 20 gau 870
As my 12 year old nefue has shot one

But LOUD isn't the right term
Plugs and muffs

Onlookers need to be behind the shooter
Not off to the side
As the brake dose a exalant job of deverting LOTS of gass and noise back to the sides

I was getting decent stuff for $150 a hundred delivered
But recently it has been around $250 a hundred delivered

It was a busy day at the range, there was but one bench available, I took it. The guy to my immediate left was shooting a .50 cal. I can tell you about muzzle blast.

Have you seen those .50 cal. sniper videos?!

If its the ones that keep circulating around on the Gun sites about the Marine or Canadian snipier shooting Taliban in Afganistan. They are a Hijacked Rock Chuck hunting video from here in the states. Spelling a bit off. Russ.

If it's not your gun, don't shoot it.

Reminds me of the time I had a new Contender in 6. 5 TCU. I wanted to shoot it real bad. I loaded up some rounds and stepped out on the patio. It was raining. I waited for the lightening to flash, waited a couple of seconds and pulled the trigger.

I can hear the neighbors now, "Damn! that was close!"
