Is there an easy way to tell the year of manufacturer on these guns? Or at least get close? The surreal number starts with L2395

As I understand it, you can't date a modern Remington by serial number. If the barrel is original to the gun, however, there is a letter code stamped near the breech end (I think on the left side) that tells you what year the barrel was made. It's usually a single letter, but could be a double.

Weird, I know.

Take a look here (http://www.remingtonsociety.com/questions/BLACKPOWDERX.htm) and here (http://www.remingtonsociety.com/rsa/questions/barrelcodes).

I looked at that chart but I don't know if my gun was made before or after 1972 so I can't really make heads or tails of it. The number on my gun is 60 th so I guess I will keep on wondering. Thanks for the chart though.
