I have a chance to pick up a Husky rifle at a good price. The downside is that it is in 9.3x57 and I have never loaded for this particular round. Is anyone here familiar with it? Would it be as good as say my 35 remington? Moulds, dies and such are available? Help!

Several of us have them. Would it be as good as say my 35 remington? Better, a 286 gr. boolit at 2000 fps. Make brass from 30-06 or 35 Whelen. Moulds, dies and such are available? Help! Yes. Hornady for dies or RCBS; Moulds from NEI and custom makers or paper patch up 35 caliber.

It's more like a .358 Win or .35 Whelen than a .35 Remington. Bullets are readily available, but probably not off the shelf at your local shop. If you hunt nothing larger than deer, you don't need it. If you hunt the big stuff, you do. It's enough gun for anything in North America.

It's also a little more gun than most people would be happy shooting for pleasure unless they were shooting reduced loads. I like to play with odd stuff and am a dedicated bullet caster. I'd grab a 9.3x57 at a good price, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I have one and like it, haven't shot it much due to the lack of a proper boolit mold it has a somewhat large bore at .370. I am going to try something new to me and paper patch when next I get the urge to shoot it.

i have a german made sporter in 9.3x57, not a husky, and love it. i use it as my bear chase gun. every time i take it deer hunting, i don't see anything, so i have stopped deer hunting with it. i have only used the speer 270 grainers with 45 grains of varget. with open sights i get about a 2" group at 100yds. i have yet to try cast as i have been too cheap to get a custom mold(and scared of ordering something that won't work well). i am thinking of trying paper patching, but need to find a descent 35 rifle mold at a good price.

i think you should be quite happy with the husky.

Ok you talked me in to it. My buddy at Cabela's put it in back tonight and I'll get it shipped next week. Now here's my thought, I have a Winchester and a Lee mould that cast bullets too small for my 38-55. Now I've had good luck sizing 324's to 318 for a Lee Enfield, why not size a 376 to 368 or so? Won't know till I get the gun and slug the bore but it's a thought. As to brass I had a Mauser in 8.2x57 so I'll just neck up that brass. All I need now are a set of dies and I'm good to go.

Thanks

I think????

Go for it if the price is reasonable!

One of my favorites, easy to carry and bring to your shoulder. Recoil is mild even with a hard buttplate. Barrel is a 14 twist and has a loooong freebore. Don't have a mould yet but have been shooting the 270g Mt. Baldy FNs GC'd at .367 lubed with Lars.

Best load so far that regulates close to the iron sights is 40.1g AA4064 w/ a pinch of dacron.

Buy it! I have a Husky 9.3x57 and it is one of my favorite rifles. It shoots the 285 Nosler Partition at 2100 fps better than I can hold, and it will kill anything that I'm going to point it at.
