I am looking to match roughly a R.E.A.L. with the approximate weight of a RB in my .54.
Any ideas?

They weigh in at close to 220 grains. Real bullets are considerably heavier. A 50 Pennsylvania ball (Ballet?) wieghs 240 in a 50. Once you put a base on one end they gain a lot of weight.

Thanks. 220gns.
I think then, I will just get a good heavy R.E.A.L. and just get used to it.
I doubt over 2500fps is a reality anyway.
I like those R.E.A.L.s. They are real predictable.

That is great!
I calculated my .50, in pure and wheel weight.
My pistol fires heavier than those balls.
Way cool.

Hi docone,
My 99.00% Pb/1.00% Tn .530's weigh in at 224 grs.
My .50 Maxi's from my Lyman with that alloy is appx. 375grs.
My Lee .50 Minie comes in around 360 grs.
Also, with my "tinner" alloy, 95.00% Pb/5.00% Tn you can take 5-10 grs. off depending on if it's the ballit or boolit.
Hope this helps,

Not sure, but I think the R.E.A.L.'s in .54 come in two different weights. Can't remember.

They do, I'll go for the heavier one. 380gns. If none come close to a ball weight, might just as well go heavy.

Nifty calculator Longbow. Forgot the decimal point the first try and had to do a double take at the weight.

Thanks for the link.

Getcher pocket cal-cool-later out. Weight in grains of pure lead ball. Cube the diameter in thousandths of an inch. Multiply by 1506.2

Example: .390 rb: .39x.39x.39=.059319 x 1506.2 = 89.3462778 or effectively 89 grains.
