I know New York State is on the strict side with the gun laws and all but..... I was browsing Gun Parts tonight looking for some trinkets to throw into the shopping cart. I've got an old JC Penny Glenfield mod 20 .22 rifle that my dad bought when I was a kid. thought I'd check what mags are going for these days (ouch to much) and saw that it was listed as "NY Prohibited". What's up with that? It's A) a bolt action rifle B) a .22 and C) only a 7 shot. If the magazine is prohibited than I'm assuming that the rifle is too. What part of that equation am I not understanding?

Well most Liberals pride themselves in being open minded, so it is no surprise that one of the most Liberal states has totally closed their minds to guns and logic.

Don't blame us, blame Numrich. It's a business decision they made, probably back in the days of the first AWB. There's no law I'm aware of baring the sale of mags within NYS.

As for our other laws, blame NYC and the other downstaters that control our State Government. Blame the colleges and socialist professors, blame FDR and Wilson for their Progressive policies, blame the socialists workers parties of the teen's through the 40's, blame the entrenched political parties and their anti-gun views. But don't blame those of us who fight them every day.

There are actually some pretty good folks in NY, at least north of NYC. How they manage to go about their lives under the statutes in place here is testament to their true grit and determination. It's my opinion that virtually everyone in the state unwittingly violates one statute or another at least once a day. The only thing that saves them is the state's inability to enforce all those laws, or even remember what they all are.

In order to build a 3' x 6' slat fence enclosure around your garbage cans in Liberal Land, you need to:
Get a building permit; go before the planning board, (best bring a lawyer if you want it to be approved); have a site inspection by the code enforcement officer; have your entire lot surveyed with all structures located and the proposed new structure clearly placed, ( not a drawing, a Survey, by a licensed surveyor); and pay the fees. Total cost of the structure to be built- $200, Total cost of the permitting process $2,000

latest oddball NY statute to come to my attention: It is a ticket-able offense to ride on the bow of a boat. No, I didn't get the ticket, I saw it on the news. However, I do violate this statute every time I set or retrieve my anchor.

Too bad the VAST majority of NY residents keep voting these people in. Ergo, Blame NY residents.

Reason #1,223,645,5594,232 I'm leaving this state as soon as my house sells.

Too bad upstate NY can't secede to get away from the city. I've spent some time in the North and West of NY state, and they are just completely different people. I think the problem is simply cities - people who grow up isolated from the real world seem to more often develop bizarre patterns of thought. One nice thing is that if we ever do get nuked, they'll go for the bigger cities first. [smilie=1:

Thank you, most people who aren't from here have a real difficult time separating NYC and downstate from the rest of the State.

Michigan's not a hell of a lot different, only the decay in Detroit is a whole lot farther advanced than NY. Not much there anymore but the Tigers and Red Wings, Pistons play way out in the burbs halfway to Lansing really and well we do need a football team though.
Course, it's why we like our college ball though, LA can have the Lions.
Are gun laws are nuts, at least we have shall issue now. Before we just had GFY shall carry.

Illinois is the same way. (Daley) Father and son have ruled the state for over 50 years. 92 counties out of 102 have signed on to a 2A as part of the county constitution but the President maker and his son (the BHO maker) refuse to let the people protect themselves. O did I mention that at the Daley summer home in Michegan they have one of the finest GUN COLLECTIONS in the midwest.

Doesn't it make you wonder why Numrich stays there? If the business climate is so anti-gun that they feel they can't sell some of their products into their own state, then why not get the hell out and move to a pro-gun area?

Kimber is in Yonkers. Is that just home office, or do they manufacture and distribute from there, also?

Numrich does most of their sales through the mail, so it don't matter where they are. Plus I can imagine moving thousands of boxes of small parts and then rearranging them again is no small task. I sure wouldn't want to do it.

Yea we certainly live in a unique area of the country, if only for the diversity in the views of the population in such a relatively small area.

I lived in NYC for 5 and change years, I don't even blame the residents there for being anti-gun. Its nothing more than complete ignorance. If you only ever hear one song, its the only song you'll know.

After my time there, more than a few people I met can't figure out why they were anti-gun or why the state is. Its tough to get mad at people for just not having accurate information (unless its out of sheer laziness- then its okay to be annoyed :) )

Did you check brownells for the magazine? You should be good to go for any magazine 10 rounds or under in NYS manufactured after sept of 94, and prior to that they can be over 10 rounds so long as they were in the state prior to the ban. . . or I think thats how it reads. It might be legal to get pre-bans that were not in the state before 94 too- but I'm not sure.

There was an H&A underhammer ML for sale on Gunbroker. I almost certain is was Gun Parts that was selling it. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=133878954 " Note: Not for sale in CA or NY State. License may be required if your State/County requires for Black Powder Firearms. " NO SALES TO NY? Personally I'm done with them.
