I have not seen much discussion of this boolit, here or anywhere else. I was fortunate enough to buy one (older Ideal in the orange and black box) from a member here. I've been looking for a LLLLOOOOONNNNGGG time. I was able to cast only enough for testing, as it is so hot here. There will not be any more casting until probably when the rains come in October.

Anyway, I shot some of them yesterday in a scoped 03 and they are nothing short of magic. I tried two loads; 28.0/surp4895 and 30.0/IMR4064 both with dacron wads, Gator checks and Felix loob. At 100 yards several 10-shot groups were sub 1.5" with many just making bug holes. Not bad for first time out with a 'new' boolit.

Anyone else shoot this boolit?

Corky....I have one also. I have shot one set of test targets with it with 21.0 grains of MS4759 and it gave me around a 2" group at 100 yards out of the Number 1 Ruger .30/06.

Definitely has some potential but I kinda put it on the back burner as I have a 311284 that's essentially the same weight.

Ought to shoot 1" with a little tinkering.

Might be one to try in the Model 70 bull barrel, huh?/beagle

The Model 70 bull barrel went back to it's original owner. He's happy, I'm happy. Money was used for another (and much wiser) gun investment. We're just gonna have to get together one of these days and trade lies! And drink some beer.

Configuration of 311284 and 311290 is similar, but not the same. 311290 is more like the 311299/314299. I think it is going to be a matter of what particular gun likes one or the other better. That scoped 03 I referred to shoots the 311284 pretty decent also.

I shot a few at 200 and they did not fair all that well -- group was bigger than I thought it should be, but this was the first outing. I think a little tweaking and it'll be just dandy.

What I did notice though, was how hard this boolit hit the berm. We had been shooting high power and occasionally you would see impacts/dust. The 311290 was sending a big plume of dust in the air every shot.
