Folks we are off and running with the new Fat 30/Fatter 30 buy. Please see the drawing below and the discussion on the "Fat 30 thread" for full rules and particulars.

The price will be $58.00 to you for a pair of six cavity Lee blocks. PM me and I will send you my address for payment.

What we are trying to create here is a slightly enlarged version of the original Fat 30 that will work well for the .303 British as well as other fat mil-surps like the 7.65 Argentine/Belgian, 7.7 Jap, 7.64 R Russian, and standard 30's with worn throats such as the Krag.

Plese note the bullet has been modified from two to three crimp grooves and still have plenty of lube and enough body to hold well in the case neck. This should give a little more versitility to the bullet.

I will be happy to try and answer any reasonable questions. I won't answer whining, ********, criticism and other playground attitudes we sometime see around here.

Please seen the drawing here for basic specs.

Please remember that neither 45 2.1 nor myself get a dime or free mold from this deal. We are just doing this so you guys can have what you said you wanted. We cannot control Lee, so you get no guarantees other than our best efforts will be given to have another good bullet.

As the checks come in I will post the zips HERE! I already have the money for 4 molds with checks for three more on the way, so we are off to a good start. When we reach 25 molds, I will give a "last call" and wait two week, I will then deposit the checks and wait another two weeks for clinkers to show up and then send the order to Lee. I will wait ten days and call Lee for a delivery date and sit back and wait. I am not going to bug Lee with call after call.

When the molds get here, I will select one and do a test cast. If everything is OK (as I define that term), the molds will be mailed to your Priority Mail.

To our friends in Canada and Finland, yes I will ship orders there. The price to the Canadians is the same as U.S., but you Finns add a couple of bucks for extra postage. Sometimes folks want to send cash instead of a check..that is OK, but the risk of loosing it on the way to me is on you. Once it get's to me, it will go in the safe with the checks and it will be OK.

Come and get em!!!

Fatter30, nose tapering from 0.306" to 0.310" ( 2 thousandths bigger than Fat30) with a 0.316"+ body. Same length as Fat30 with three crimp grooves to allow seating to engagement in the 303 British within allowable cartridge length and stay in the neck. Meplat is 0.18" to allow feeding without snagging hopefully. Lube capacity a little greater

Although I am not interested in one of these molds, I am compelled to comment on something in Chargar's post. As a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service, I beg of you PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH THROUGH THE MAIL !!!!!! Every organization with a large number of employees will have their thieves, and infortunately we have ours too. I don't know how they do it, but some thieves are able to detect cash in envelopes and there is no recourse to get it back. There are some more comments I could make, but I think I have said my piece. OK, I'm down from the soapbox now. Thank you. :)

Hardcast.. Your point if well taken.. However with some of our overseas friends, the hastle of getting an international money order in dollars is time consuming and quite expensive. Some of them feel it is worth the risk to send cash. That is their decision to make and not mine. I was specific that the risk of loss is with them. Canada does not present a problem, but some of the European countries do.

Charger,
Understood. My comments were directed toward my fellow postal customers in the US. Being in the business, I know theft happens, and had to preach a little. I have no knowledge of international transactions or the currency situation abroad. OK, I'll go buzz off now. :)

My check will go in the mail Monday. I understand that I should acquire the handles myself, so now the question........When should I order the handles from Midsouth and while I am ordering, do I understand that........

This baby is designed to take the Hornady .30 Gas check?

Char-Gar
03-26-2006, 08:00 AM
The bullet is designed to be a snap fit for the Hornaday gas check, although I can see no reason you can't use another brand.

The order is for the blocks alone. When and where you aquire the handles is up to you.

It requires a minimum of 25 molds for the order to avoid paying Lee another $150.00 in a set up fee. When I get all of the orders and the money is sent to lee, I will get a delivery date from Lee. When I get that I will post it here and that should be close to the time I receive the molds. It will then take another week or so to get them in the mail. Because of all of the "ifs" and "when" involved, I can't even give you a ball park date for delivery at this time, but it will be at least a two months, maybe more.

The interest seems high, If everybody that PMed me that they want one comes through we are already close to the required 25 molds..

The money is on the way.

Actually, if I can't use my Visa, I usually send currency to the USA. An international money order costs over six dollars, which is over 10% of the cost of the mould. Surely, the post office doesn't lose ten per cent of the mail.

I've only had one letter go astray for $62, so I'm still ahead of the game.

slug,

Yo, Mr. Slug

Them $umb!tche$ at paypal are anti-gun and I don't know fer sure, but I think one person can paypal money to another person. All they gotta have is an email address as far as I know and they may not even charge for it.

Unless maybe if they do it's only like 2.7 percent or something.

Might be worth looking into for the next time.

74063
98801

P3L 1H4

Total orders are 18 for 22 molds. 25 molds is the magic number. More are on the way.

When I get the payments for the full 25 in hand. I will issues a last call for two weeks out. That will give time for any in transit to get here and anybody that still wants in to get in. After that..the door is shut, the checks cashed and the order sent.

Remember the no whine rule!

Here are three more payments as of April 7, 2006

11429
95466
97148

That makes 21 orders for 25 molds. THE MAGIC NUMBER has been reached..Therefore LAST CALL FOR FATTER 30 ORDERS!

On Monday April 17, the checks, cash and money orders will be deposited. Any funds received after than date will be returned. So, if I don't have the payment by that date you are SOL.

My PM folder is full with over 200 PMs on this mold, so I am going to delete them all. If there is something in your PM that I think I should have saved, then send it again because the first one is gone..gone. I don't need your name and address as I take those from the orders.

I will post the final list of zips on Saturday April 15th. If yout zip does not appear and you have money in transit the send me a PM and I will hold up. Don't send me a PM if you are "going" to put it in the mail. In that case the SOL rule applies

In all cases the no whine rule is in effect.

How much is this bullet spec'ed to weight in at? Sorry, but I haven't been keeping up with it that well or I would know.

Think it'd make a fairly good boolit for a .30WCF?

Murphy

Char-Gar
04-06-2006, 07:58 PM
Murphy...Stay away from this bullet for the 30-30 unless..you have a Marlin Microgroove barrel with a large land diameter..something on the order of .304 or so.

I have a Marlin 30-30 with a groove of .305 and this style of bullet will feed very slick and give supurb accuracy. I have another Marlin and two Winchesters and this bullet won't chamber without way too much force.

Today is pull the pin day (Monday April 24th.) Order received with a postmark after today will be sent back, so save us both some trouble and don't send them.

I emptied my PM box/foder this morning as it had scores and I don't feel like cross referencing each one with the zips I have. It is easier for you do do one than me to do dozens. Honcho is a volunteer position don't you know!

THEREFORE, if you zip HAS NOT been posted and YOU HAVE sent an order, send me a FRESH PM and let me know. If you sent one even yesterday it is gone..gone..gone. ..so send another.

The last two orders that came today are

K4A 2P1
06512

This makes a total of 44 orders for 47 molds.

I will hold off until any orders in the mail have arrived, and then I will deposit the checks, wait two week for any duds to bounce and then send the order to Lee Precison. I am not in the collection business so any bad checks will just be sent back and no mold will be ordered.

92399

I will deposit the check in the bank on May 1 and two weeks later I will send the order to Lee. After about a week, I will call Lee and get a delivery date and post than on this thread.

I will ask a moderator to "unsticky" this thread, so you will have to hunt it up, to keep up to date.

By my count that makes 46 orders for 49 molds.

I did have to send one money order back as the purchaser made it payable to me and then endorsed it on the back as well. Bank doesn't like those. I sent it back today and have send a PM to the buyer. If I can get a fresh money order I can cash before I send the order in, I will get one for him. If not, then I will just order on less mold.
