I'm making up some loads for my son in law's rifle and I am having no luck finding data for the load I want to put together. Specifically, I want to use a Mountain Molds 200 grain design that I have (very similar to the RCBS 200 grdesign), and push it to abut 2000 fps. I wouldn't mind (though it isn't a priority) using large pistol standard primers if I can find a powder that will ignite with that gentle of a starter. My best guess so far is about 37 grains ofH4198 (large rifle std. primers). What do you think?

There is quite a bit of data for the 358 Win. I think it should be a good place to start.

yep on the 358 win data, i do know 25 grs of 4895 will reliably ignite with a win lp primer.
i usually use 40k as a cut off point for lp or sp type primers, but i didn't say that.

leftiye; 37 grs may be a little fast for what you want. I've got a 09 ARG with 22" Wilson barrel, 33.0 gr 4198 plus dacron filler chronies 2044 fps at 40 deg F with the rcbs 200(215 actual) and cci std LR primer. 4227 may be another option for you, but I would use a filler with either of those powders in the 06 case, as for pistol primers I would guess they would touch off either of the charges fine, but I have not tried. .02

Thanks guys. Just what I needed. Anybody else who has data/experience who wants to chime in will also be much appreciated.

I run 54 grains of RL15 with that weight. Nice full case that a pistol primer sets off quite nicely. So I would assume that something in that area based upon all the variables.

Sorry, missed the 2000 fps limit. This is in the 2400 fps area. But recoil is not vastly different with this weight from the 2000 fps level.

So if I am going to get pushed with a 35, might as well pay dividends.
