View Full Version : Good-bye Friends

I’m going to have to say good-bye to all of my fine friends here on Cast Boolits.
I have found a timber falling job out-of state , clear over in western Washington , just out of Longveiw . Boy am I excited , I’ve been planning this move for years . I am packing everything up and leaving Kalispell ,Tuesday afternoon. I’m going to have to leave my guns, reloading and casting equipment with my Dad for the time being. Until I can find a place to move into and settle down I wont be able to use the Internet, or do much shooting. It may take 6 months or more.
I want to thank you all for making me feel welcome and for sharing your information with me. I’ve learned a great deal here. When I first started coming here there where just a few members, 3 threads and 20 posts. Now there are 1427 members 5498 threads and 60853 posts, and i have enjoyed very bit of it all . It has been very fun. Keep up the good work, shot strait and keep the lead flowing.

Fare well
Anthony

P.S. if you see an Airsteam Camper being pulled by a Green Dodge 2500 that would probably be me.

Just about every public library around here, even the tiniest villages, has an internet connection, can't imagine they don't on the weast coast. No reason why you can't check in every now and again, is there? Anyway good luck and don't forget to duck!

Anthony,
Good luck with the new job. A six month wait is nothing at all, we can wait until you log on again.

Nyack, here in Alabama we cut our trees from the bottom! I hear that out on the other side they sometimes cut them from the top. Best wishes, watch out for kickbacks and the one's that twist off the stumps.

Longview Wa. Guess what the main road into town goes by the garbage dump. Every 6 months or so I get to go to meetings at the hospital there. Not a bad area really. I grew up not too far from there and still own property about 60 miles NW of there. They do have indoor plumbing and telephones up there. Good luck on your new job. Mark

Coming up to my neck of the woods...well almost. I live in Wenatchee; it's about smack dab in the middle of the state. It's about 30 miles North of I-90 when you drive through George. Hope you like things wet; it rains alot over on the west side of the Cascades. Beautiful area, though. +1 on being careful; had a buddy of mine hurt pretty bad a couple of years ago logging over there. Best of luck to you, and if you make it over to Wenatchee sometime, PM me and we'll go do some shooting. You wouldn't turn down another guy's offer to burn his powder, would you? :)

Regards,

Kevin

thanks for the send off guys .
i will try to get on using a library computer .But i plan on being very busy , also every time I go to a library the computers are in use . oh well that happens .
Your not going to believe the reaction i got out of my family , they plan on declaring me MIA/DOA in three week so's they can divide up my "shooting loot" amongs themselves . yah know if it wouldn't take me 3 trips to haul all of my lead over there.....
My mom is from a big family (7 brothers 6 sisters) south of portland and one of my sisters is going to OSU , so i wont be alone over there . also i hear that the bear hunting is great over in western washington . mmmm i think that 45-70 will work good there , now what boolits should i take along to use ? the Lyman 457122 or 457643 or RCBS 405 or NEI # 346 or one of my MM customs ? golly do i have some hard choices to make by tomorrow.

Good luck kid---been a pleasure. I am happy with your advice to get the Stihl saw. Now the rest of the story---or atleast to this point. I ordered a kit to convert my chiminea to natural gas log set. That project still has a couple of bugs. The burner unit just sets in it and I have friend that welds that I'm going to see if he can rig up a plate where it is attached. The orfice for it is too small and I have enlarged it some--but going to enlarge more. I also ordered a weber flame for my patio. It came in today and is great. www.weber.com and look at weber flame. I wont have as much need for the chain saw,but I'll still get some use out of it.

Good luck

I sould be starting a new thread instead of bringing up this old one , but i could not resist looking at this one and thinking "dang has it been that long ?!?!?"
boy how time flys when one is working thierself to death . dang this place has grown like a weed since i last posted anything. It is going to take me a loooong time to get cought up on the happenings going on around here .
I would have gotten back sooner but alas i am a procastnator and i would rather buy a gun than a computer and my money just aint been streching like it should .

thanks for the warm reception guys .
The logging has been ..... well interesting . We are working in a 100 acre patch of timber that the big storm in early December may a big mess of . and i say big mess , 120 foot tall 24-30 inch on the butt coastal fir .blown down in two differant main directions across draws and up hill , down hill , side hill 1/3 is still standing 1/3 in on the ground and the other 1/3 somewhere in between .

on the plus side i've made enough money to buy a few "needed" guns . like a 44 mag marlin 1894 (i've got 5 molds in .429) a older 30-30 Marlin 336-A , a winny 1894 bigbore 375 , a 58 cal musket 3 30-06s ( one was a pre-64 featherweight ) and a ruger 77-22 .
I just have to get a 1911 now to be (nearly) complete.
I've also picked up a lot of other suff like molds and books and condom bullets at the many gun shows that i've been to , such as the Portland show.

You know that's scary because I'm surrounded by Doug Firs that big, and some bigger. They say it's the jet stream that has touched down on earth like never before in recent history.

I keep watch on these trees to make sure they look healthy, healthy tips, and I cut down and mill up anything that looks buggied or questionable. If one of those drops through the house it could kill one of us..

All of the rain that we got saterated the ground and it didn't take much wind to blow trees over when the ground is wet . but we got hit with two storms and things got real ugly lots of flooding and mudslides beside the wind .
