Finally, after a lot of starts and stops, I got a load worked up for cast hollow points in my 22-250. I wanted a boolet that would expand enough on a hog so that it would stay in or at least fragment, as I hunt in an area that is small farms interspersed with some houses and I don't want any riccochets from pass thrus or misses. I started with Lyman #225462 that weighed 56gr from the mold and then hollow pointed them on a lathe with an .078 drill bit down to about the first lube groove. They ended up weighing 51gr. Alloy was AC wheel weights with a little tin for fillout. I was hoping to get an accurate load going at least 2000fps. The load the gun likes the best is 19gr of 3031 and it goes just over 2000fps and stays around an inch at 100yds (3 shots), with no leading. I shot 2 hogs last evening with those boolets, the one below was shot at about 60-70yds. Shot in the throat, nice exit hole, satisfying slap when the bullet hit, hog never moved. Second one was shot in the head, about 50 yards, bullet stayed in, shattered his whole skull, hog never moved other than his tail flipping a couple of times. I wanted to shoot a couple at 100yds or over to see what the bullet would do, but those were the only two hogs I saw. Maybe this evening. Last picture is the group I shot after I adjusted the scope to put them 2"high at 100yds. So far I'm pleased with the bullet and load.

Good on yer mate. The 22cals work well. I use mainly 22K hornet for rabbits & hares etc because it suits my scots ancestery. keep yer nose to the wind. cheers Euan.
