Hey guys, is the website running alright for everyone? Is anyone getting time-out messages, or having any problems? If so please post all your compliments / complaints in full detail (meaning, error messages and such).

I wonder about all the little goobers that appear and disappear on the left side of the text box below the “avatarâ€. (Why is it called an avatar, and why are other symbols called icons and what is the difference, and why are they called that. Both the term “avatar†and “icon†have usually been used in connection with things having some religious significance) There was something at one point soliciting comments about reputation. (Did responses about Carpetman overload the system?)
Anyway keep at it, you're doing fine!

Okay, I was not going to say this but since You asked... This site has been weird for me; it works in the evening and in the night but not in the day time. My day time that is. Maybe it's metric, hehe. For example yesterday I was able to log in in the morning at work (34 hours ago) but an hour after that not at all until I got home (25 hours ago, different ISP). Site worked good yesterday evening as well. Today it was no-go in the morning from work (10½ hours ago) but right now when I'm home it works okay. Seems to be sleeping with You I guess, hehe. New computer and You take it to bed with You? Just kidding. Okay, this might be something with my work ISP, but it's been working time to time. Some time at work it's slow when connecting but works smooth when I'm in. Dunno what's wrong but it's not very big problem for me.

I think your problem is internet traffic. I can't see a pc working good onetime then not so good another.

Joe, It certainly could be, but at the same time old aimoo board is working no problemo as well as quite a few other US based discussion boards. They just are not the same thing. My problem is pretty sharply concentrated only to this this site.

Internet traffic is like car traffic, some roads have more traffic on them. Saying that you can't dismiss this because one site is faster then another.

New computer and You take it to bed with You?
What me and my computer do at night is none of your business!!
haha! :)
Yea connections are sometimes funny. Cable internet for example, if you have it, and lots of people in your neighborhood have it and are on at the same time, everyone's will be slower because they share the line. DSL is more of a direct link and will not slow down if others are using it nearby. Also if it's happening at work than other users at work may be on and slowing the companys internet down a bit. Lots of possiblities..
I was just wondering though, and thanks for your input everyone. Chances are I may be upgrading the hosting servers of which our site is on.

Is there some way we can delete a post entirely instead of just editing it?
Gunload Master
04-15-2005, 03:02 PM
I could enable that feature, but it might cause confusion if lots of posts keep disapearing. That's why it's up to the moderators and administration people to delete threads..
If you want to have a thread deleted just Private Message one of the moderators to delete the post. You can see who all are the moderators by hitting "View Forum Leaders" above the "Whose Online" section of the main page.

If you were one that recieved the vb3_postindex.MYI error, it has been fixed. Sorry for the inconvience.

I don't see the confusion. Our last website had that feature and you could only delete your own post, after you logged in with the correct username and password. So what's this about posts disappearing? They didn't disappear on the old site. I'd like the feature too because a few times I typed out a post and didn't like, then decided to get rid of it. What's the harm in getting rid of your own post?

Right, after all we retain the copyright on it.

Frankly, I do have troubles. I just tried posting to a topic and got an error. Not the first time that's happened. I'll be damned if I am going to try entering it all again just to see if the second try is golden. also, the site is slow. Slower than aimoo and much slower than the old shooters. I don't pretend to be an expert, but the headings and avatars seem to be exacerbating the problem. Do we really need them? Once you've seen it you never look at them again and, as for me, they do not add that much. Remember KISS. JMHO.

Ok, now I'm starting to get a problem where I go to post my post or reply and I get an error, then I end up with a double post. Starting to happen "too" often now.
If this is posted double, then it happen again.

Maybe that's why I've been having so much trouble in the last few minutes. got an error message every time I tried to open any thread. A little earlier today I also got that "double post" type situation as well. I didn't end up with a double, but I can see how it would happen.

Check your e-mails from an e-mail I sent to all members helping to explain what is going on.
Shooter2:
If you are running slow, than you can go to your profile and go to your options, and there will be an option to "disable avatars" click on that and you will not see everyones avatars. They will never load making the site load faster for you..

On the Aimoo board we could copy and paste from a word processing document and retain the formatting. Can not, for example post a table here. Any possibility of that here?
Gunload Master
04-23-2005, 09:19 PM
It actually would show tables? Could you send me a link to one of the posts with a table in it so I could view it? What all formating does it not do when you paste it in?

I was surprised it did, but it did. I am trying to find one, but no luck just yet.
The size and font changes when i copy and paste,

What is:
vB code?
XML?
CSV?
Gunload Master
04-29-2005, 10:21 PM
VB code could be either Visual Basic code or VBulletin code. Visual basic code is programmers code. VBulletin code is code that is specific to Vbulletin boards such as some QUOTE statements. Code that only works within VBulletin
XML is a type of user input information.. Basically using XML you can link to current information on one site using your site and whenever the other site makes updates your site will automatically get those updates linking using XML.
CSV I am not sure..
Why do you ask?

Oh I gotcha bud. You see that stuff in your Private Message folder where you can download your private messages. Personally i would just recommend the "TEXT" download. CVS actually gets the information and puts it into Microsoft EXCEL format to read.
