Hiram,

I don't have "that" 30 caliber, but I do have 30s with more crimp grooves than three that do quite well.

I have the 44 caliber with multiple crimp grooves. And it does OK too.

Is this a question of frustration?

I'll try 4895 and see if that is better. I had tried 15 4227 with polyester fill. I wasn't impressed.

4895 or IMR3031 is good for me in 30 cal, can't speak directly for the multi crimp groove 30 cals.

I have had excellent service from that boolit in the 30/30. Use jacketed data for 150's with H335/BLC-2/ or W-748...all shot well in 2 -30/30's...just used the groove that gets it closest to the grooves and all was well.

hiram, Are you referrring to the 30-150-PB Lee Group Buy bullet? If so, I've had soem success with it, but only with Clays (original formulation), Unique and Blue Dot in my .30-06. The trick is to tumble lube, but not size them and use no more than 6 -7 grs. Clays (or Bullseye) or 9 - 10grs. Blue Dot and no filler. Moreover, it may pay to weigh and segregate your CB's as cavities #'s 1 - 3 cast differently than #'s 4 - 6. You may want to check the Group Buy Mold Results section of the site ("Maven's Day At The Range....") for more information if we're speaking of the same CB.

Thanks for the info on the loads. This is the 150 gas check group buy bullet. I know there was a plain base also.

I have 4895, 3031, 748, and unique as mentioned here. I use 748 in my 308 Rem 788 and my 94 -- 32 Win Spl for accuracy loads.

Are you referring to this bullet pictured below?

If so I have had very good results with it in 7.62x39, 30-30, 7.64x54R and 7.65 Argentine. It drops at .315" from my GB 6 cavity mould with a BHN 18 alloy. I seat the GC and size in a .314 Lee push through mould the lube in a .314 Lyman H die in a 450 lubrasizer. I then size to .311 in a Lee push through or .312 in a Lyman H die.

I use 4895 in the 7.62x39, 4759 with a dacron filer in the 30-30, and H4227 with the dacron filler in the other cartridges.I keep velocities in the 1800-1950 fps range in all the cartridges.

A limited test in the .308W Palma rifle with a 14" twist shows real promiss in the 2200-2400 fps range as a hunting bullet. I shall revisit that test again in the near future.

I use this bullet in 30/30 with very good results. I size them to .3095 and load them with 20.0 grains of IMR 4198. Lymans manual says its about an 1800 fps load. I seat to the top groove and fill the lower 2 with lube. I took 2 deer last season with this load and both deer dropped on the spot.
