Bought a NEW Lee 10 pound pot and fitted the plug and away we went, smoked for awhile. In went all the rejects and ingots and away I went. I was worried I had a dud pot,but after 45 minutes it started to leak.Phew was worried.[smilie=1:

IŽd also be worried if mine wouldnŽt drip from time to time. I have a 10 and a 20 pounder and am glad that both drip.lol

Dripping spouts seem to come with the territory. The problem can be mitigated, but total elimination of the dripping is elusive.

My 20lb Lee pot didn't start leaking till my third casting session, so I guess I got the best of the lot. I went out and bought a Lyman pot and am now very happy.

Ever since I added a small vice to the rod and added weight the drip just about stopped. It is very seldom now and therefore doesnŽt bother that much.

I found that with my lee 20 pound pot that there is just enough room under the mould support that my RCBS ingot mould will nicely sit there and collect " The Drip " and at the end of a run dump it back into the pot with the sprue and start over again . And no more mess laying all over my casting table ( no more than usual that is ) :castmine:

I don't mind the drip -- I know the lead is flowing and the spout is not clogged.

Isn't that the way you tell when your out of lead, when it qiuts dripping?

None of my Lee pots have dripped.
What I do,
I turn the nozzle, with some slight pressure. this seems to really help. At first, the adjustment screw would turn also, makeing for short pours. In time, it rusts at the desired adjustment.
So far, so good.
There is always a first time though.

My pot is on a workbench so the height is right to peek in and see how low the level is.

My 4-10 is defective, it doesn't leak. I'd send it back for repair but with all the backlog I don't want to be without it for that long. Perhaps when all settles down I will send it in to get the drip feature fixed :???:

Mine doesn't drip at all... Until it gets up to temp that is :D I usually just let it drip, drip, drip. Once I get a pretty good pillar going, I pick it up and stick it back in the top. Seems to work itself out...

My Lee 2-10 production pot leaks. I turn the screw ( plunger) a few times and it slows a bit or stops. I start with setting on 10. After the lead is melted completely, I'll turn it to 5. If it's a bit cool where I'm located, or windy, or lead cools in spout, I'll have to turn the temp up some.
I didn't know that all trash didn't float. So I had trash to get into spout. I used a hex headed drill bit to clear the spout, by hand. After the lead melts, I'll use a long tea spoon and scrape the sides and bottom of pot. The trash will float, then spoon out the trash.

I got the drips also!! Took a thin sheet of aluminum and slide it on base. When it drips, pick up and slide into pot real easy/quick. replace and keep casting. greg

this subject keeps coming up.the rod seems to light most know to put a weight on it most clamp a vise grip.also you have to keep the mix clean.
Mine seldom leaks.a good scrubing with an old 22 brush helps.:coffee:[smilie=1:

My Lee pot worked good the other day. today was a diff story it had the drips for sure and thats all i could get even with the handle raised to open the spout. i had turned the temp way up to see if that would help but no luck. guess i need to try the drill bit or screw trick???

Mine drips some, not a lot, but it's no big deal as I spill lead as I cast and the Production pot has clearence enough to allow an ingot mold underneath to catch the drip/spills. Weight the Rod, keep alloy clean, scrape the sides, and dump the pot occasionally. NO BIGGIE.
