Willy, please look at my post. (No. 1 in the 'Please Find' thread) Looking at it in the "Today" configureation, it looks fine. But click on it to get it into its own thread, and there the "8" becomes a Smiley!!! How is that possible? I've tried to edit it several times but it always changes back to a smiley in the thread display.

Scrounger: As Willy explained it a month or so ago, that's how you call up a "smiley". After an "8", and before a "close parens" (or a period?) - type an extra space and the smiley will go away. A minor annoyance, since I don't go in for smileys.

Matter of fact I just deleted that "smile" as it was a duplicate anyways.
In order to have smilies it's called by a certain set of words or numbers. The new ones I add are something like this :smilienamehere: so whenever someone adds a smilie it's actually text such as that. Well the "cool" smilies text to replace was actually "8)" so wherever 8) was displayed the smilie was there. Thus, you had (1988) which has the 8) at the end, which would draw up that smilie face. I deleted that smilie so now that thread appears normal, it might make a few threads that used that smilie look different, but it won't be anything terrible.
Good explanation?
