777 in 45 long colt

Tried 777 in 45 long colt----255 lead with 25 grs. of 777----when I pulled trigger a cloud of smoke surounded my head--but results where good--produced good groups at 25 yrs.----Mild recoil---Gun cleaned up easily-----------:castmine:

Me and 44man had a post on 777 in Ruger's Old Army cap n ball. Using a 200 SWC meant for the 45acp I got about 1200 some fps over my chrono using 40 grs by volume of 777....and excellent groups. Like Hodgdon says...it's more powerful then Pyrodex.

I don't know how much 777 it takes to reach the base of a seated boolit in the .45 Colt, but that is where I would load to. Like Star says, it can be real good.
