I recently acquired a rather odd looking brass mold. I have not used it yet so don't know how it casts. It is a 3 cavity semi wadcutter evidently for .38 Special as it measures .360 exactly at the base. Looks like it would cast about 160 grains. It has 2 narrow very square grooves. The blocks are built right onto the handles but are very small. The block is 1 3/4" long, 1 1/8" tall, and just over 3/4" wide across BOTH locks when closed. In other words each half is only 3/8" thick. The sprue plate extends out the front like an old winchester mold and has a notch in the back corner directly across from the screw that serves almost as a latch. There is one alignment pin in the lower front corner of the mold. By holding it up to the light you can see a very tiny seam of light at the base of the cavities, tracing paper would more than fill it. There are no vent lines in the mold but the underside of the sprue plate has very fine tapered vent lines extending in both directions away from the hole. Handles are wood with steel ferrules on the end toward the blocks. Holes are drilled through the ferrules which are then pinned on the block handles. There are no markings of any kind anywhere on this mold. Finish is very good with no grinding marks or voids to be seen. Workmanship on this mold is awesome. I know pictures would help but I don't have that capability just now. Anybody have any idea who might have made this? Due to the small width of the blocks are there any precautions I should take along the lines of warpage etc. Thanks. RD

At one point many European companies were importing molds such as that one into the US, from what I hear.

Ask these guys- http://www.antiquereloadingtools.com If anyone could ID it they can. It could be an import or it could be a custom job.
