I have a S&W 460 revolver, and some 45 caliber (.452) 260gr SWC plain base lead bullets. I have done a little research and nothing came up. I have several questions.
1) Can I use this hard cast linotype bullet for reloading 45 Colt, Casull and S&W460?
2) What would be the max velocity/load for each case with minimal/no leading?
3) would these be effective hunting ammo for deer/hog?
4) What would be the max distance for effectively harvesting them using this ammo?
Thanks for all the responses.

It is possible to push those up to 1500 fps. with minimal leading, but whether you can do it in your guns is impossible to answer.

To be successful, you'll need them sized for each guns throats and bore, a good lube, and smooth barrels.

My threshhold is about 1400 fps with plainbased boolits, above that I use gas checks.

Even at 1000 to 1200 fps., they will have plenty of power for deer.....I've never killed a hog.

You could do better with a GC boolit but if you stay around the 1500 area should not get a base melt . I dont think you could really lead a 460 S&W because of the gain twist. I use a 255gr GC and 9 gr tightgroup that is a hot load for a 45 colt case but shoots good in the 460
