hi i receintly bought a old c & h reloading press from a co worker , it is the old style H type single stage press and painted red it is in good condtion ! and is in way better condtion than the 2 that were sold on ebay in the last 2 weeks the first one sold for $76.00 the other for $103.00 ! is there some kind of special value or something ? or did bidding just get out of hand ? because rcbs rock chucker presses were not going for that much . thanks bob

It is more or less a collectable depending on how you view it.

I have a 4 station CH press that I really like - kind of an early procressive.

Here's my 4-station C-H press with some modifications to the primer removal system...it rises and falls with the shellholder platform...dumps automatically into a cup.

Next to the C-H press is my Lyman All American turret, talk about paying through the nose for an older model press, that one cost about $125 to ship from Canada. But is one of my favorite presses for working up loads. And yes, I painted it Lyman orange as the original red was clashing with the rest.

Swagerman,

I wondered about that Lyman All American in Lyman orange. Thanks for the explanation. Mine is still red. Quantrill

Yeah, I painted That All American press like an automobile, masked everything off, even rolled little paper tufts in the screw holes or other orifices then sprayed that baby like Earl Shyabe who will paint any car for $99.95, if he's still around and kicking.

The paint is an exact match to Lyman colors...its Krylon spray can, and its called Allis Chalmers Orange.

Swagerman- Whats that do-hicky hanging off the front of the bench? Some sort of case luber?

Hee hee! You guys don't miss a thing.

That is an old Herter's cartridge case luber that has a felt O-ring you dab a bit of Hornady liquid case goo on it and just poke the brass in & out for a fast lube before sizing in the die.

Though with carbide dies these days it hardly gets any use, but I like it because it reminds me of the good old days when Herter's was viable force in the reloading field.

All the Herter's stuff selling on ebay these days you'd think they are still a viable force.

Tpr-Bret, did you notice on my C&H press having the shellholders with the ring collers with hex nuts instead of those crummy shellholder ring snaps.

This is answering a rather dated reply, but here goes anyway.

My C-H press uses the standard industry shellholders, and they have the bottom nuts to attach them to the press...but, I made some coller rings to fit around the standard shellholders with hex screws to keep them in tight.

A new C-H press is $245.00. $103.00 isn't a bad price for a used one compared to that.
