Anyone here shoot .41 magnum, and if so, what would be your preferred cast bullet?

For low fuss plinking, the RCBS 41-215 . For more serious work, I have a LBT mould that throws a long, flatnose (lfn) at 235 with a gas check.

What is the internal (exit) diameter of the largest cylinder hole? Also, what is the length of the cylinder itself, and does it have a recess for the cartridge rim? ... felix

The Lyman 410459 has been a good one for me. Lyman says that it may be too long for some revolvers, but I have used it in a Smith 57, a Ruger BH, and a Dan Wesson with no problem. If you have oversized chamber mouths, as my old model BH does, the old Lyman 41028 drops from my one-holer at .414". I also second 7br's RCBS suggestion.

Okay, well what is that in terms of the bullet? Is it a 195 gr. LSWC, or what?

I've used the Lymand with GC, the RCBS SWC and the Lee 195 gr SWC. But I really prefer the Lee 410-175-TL. This was the bullet for the .41 AE I believe. It is an easy to cast, economical no fuss bullet that I use over 5 gr Bullseye. These run 800 fps out of a 4" barrel and 848 fps out of my Ruger 7 1/2 " barrel. Accruacy is excellent, noise and recoil very mild and they are just plain fun to shoot. Great load for small game, rabbits, squirrels, etc.

You need a mold that will cast a boolit large enough to fit the diameter of your cylinder holes, and one short enough that can be seated properly. If you want to take a chance, any boolit mold that is affordable would be OK. Your choice entirely, but custom molds make boolits that always shoot the best by FAR. ... felix

After you have taken care of the proper sizing of your bolits as per felix

PGB, go to

http://www.castpics.net/research.htm

and click on the Lyman Moulds link. There you can look up about any Lyman mould number and see a pic of the bullet, along with the nominal bullet weight.
Weight depends on alloy of course. My 4-cavity 410459 drops 217 gr. with wheelweights.

PGB SUPERIOR, [AMY] The bullet that I have found is the 225 Rnfp mould that Magma engeneering puts out. they offer the bevel base in 225 and the plain base in 220 grn. They will feed in all the diferent firearms because the lead is designed slightly undersized. The accuracy is top notch and not a whole lot of companys are offering them commecially yet. This is the same bullet I was refering to when you were just starting out and selling at Huntingtons. Glad to know where you ended up.
