How do you cut something up like that.

If he doesn't have a cutting torch it's gonna take him awhile! I tried cutting inch thick lead pipe with a power saw, then an axe. Took it to a garage and rented the guys oxy-acet. torch. Melted the pipe into 5 pound chunks in about an hour. Then took a bunch of aspirin for my back.

good find 1 ton of free pure lead.
he could cut it up with a air chistle or try using a big carpenters cut-off saw.
I just use a sharp ax and a block of wood.

In the past I have tried just about everything to cut up other finds of single big pieces. All of the power tools. The winner bar none is a plasma cutter. It is like a knife through butter. The buddy that had one I could borrow has since gone to his reward so a air chisel with a wide flat bit is what I have used.Works well on stuff up to 1" or so.I do have a 3 point log splitter I am gonna try though.Guess I will keep yall informed on what I try this time.

I've gotta plasma that'll cut 1 1/2 steel. Lead will be no problem. Come on over and get it. For a small (half ton) fee. :D :D

Or, you could find a cast iron tank just big enough to fit those pieces in one at a time, have bottom spout, have a bottom burner to heat it.

Buckshot, once pictured some home made rig like that for big production melting.

The ingot mould would accept the proper pour size workable ingots.

Good luck, let us know how you make out on it.

Ask Buckshot about it.

Talk to Texasflyboy. That pot he's building is damn near big enough to swallow up that stuff......Congratulations!

...............A carpet mill had bought new machines and one of their mechanics was a silhuette shooter at the range. He brought our rangemaster at the time several pickup loads of these machinery footings. They were about a foot by a foot an a half square. Around the outside they were 1-1/2 to 2" thick and depressed in the center for the machine so there is was about 3/4" thick.

The outside perimeter which was the thickest was probably as wide as it was thick. We cut them up for the pot with a circular saw. One guy would cut and the other would spritz a littel WD40 on the blade every now and then. Cut great.

Go and rent a cutting torch or plasma cutter, the small fee is nothing compared to the amount of musel relaxers you will need.

Nahhh, they dont glow.It is just that yellow light. I did ask the guy if they had any depleated U though.Thought I could make them minnes penatrate a bit better.:Fire: I have a Ox/acc torch set up.It don't cut for s**t.Maybe a rosebud would work? I only need to get the pieces about 6-7" wide to drop in my smelting set up.I have the junk laying to build a cupola furnace.Use a chain fall to lower them slabs into it?
What ever I do I will keep ya all up to snuff

sounds like yer mix is off. run 5psi on the Acc and 20 psi on the Oxy; on the gauges. When you light the torch, start with acc and adjust Oxy just until the the secondaries disapear, these adjustments are made with the torch knobs.

I would second Buckshots suggestion. A friend gave me some wheel weights that he had melted into a 12" cast iron frying pan. The disc was about 1.5" thick about the size of the pan and maybe 80 lbs. My 7.5" skill saw with a cheap carbide blade went thru it with no trouble at all. Nick

Buckshot is right on that, I've cut lead up like that. I've also used wax on the blade. One thing I can add is WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES OR FACE SHIELD AND GLOVES...long sleeved shirt too.
