Lead. As near pure as makes no odds.

Silver is pretty worthless at stopping Xrays.

Yeah but silver is used in xray film. This is the film backings so think you're right.

Sheepdog, as mentioned, I believe you meant to say XRay film shields they put in your mouth. Having melted several hundred pounds of it and tested for hardness ... it ranges for Bhn 8.2 or 8.7. That's close to 1:30 amd 1:20 alloy

My wife is an assistant and she says pretty much all offices are going to digital and there won't be film (or lead) much longer.
Ain't progress grand?

I have two offices , one is my Dentist & the other a friend works at, are saving their peel off's for Me. When I get a bag full I drop back with a dozen fresh donuts , & the supply just keeps on flowing... When they go digital then I guess there donuts will also go away. My 2¢. Russ.

BTW someone asked for the MSDS sheets on this and they came up with the percentages of alloys..... Lead 95-96%%, Antimony 1-2%, Tin 1-2% (Aprox guess)

It was in a post not too long ago.
