Was thinking about trying some 5744. Does anyone know how "bulky" it is? I have the Accurate Arms reloading guide for loads, but I would like to know if the loads will fill a case more than half full. If any of you have some 5744 and a .30-06 case could you fill one up to brim and let me know how many grains it takes to fill?

Winchester 30-06 case, trimmed to 2.490" averaged 63.2 grains of 5744 filled to the top. Approximately 53.4 grains to the bottom of the neck. You stated you have the Accurate manual so you know never to put that much in a 30-06 but I'll state it just in case.

You will know it if you double charge a case with a published load of 5744.
