I know I will need to change out the barrel. But what would be a good mold for this gun and do I need a gas check on the boolit. I was thinking of a wad cutter but I don't know if they make one or if it would even work in the action. Almost forgot it's a modle 22 (40cal)

what caliber are you talking about?

you can change out the barrel if you want to but it is really not necessary. I'm sure you will hear all sorts of stories about how glocks wont shoot cast or how unsafe it is. BS! Keep the loads within normal specs and the alloy hard and you will not have any issues.

Get the leading out at the end of the range session by shooting a few plated or jacketed bullets

no gas check needed

a good roundnose or semi-wad would be good - reliable feeding is the goal

In 1986 or 87 I bought a Glock 21 in 45acp and fired over 25,000 rounds through it in the next fifteen years in IPSC and Glock matches. I never changed the barrel and never had a problem with cast boolits. Cast was all I ever shot in it and made major with 200gr H&G type wad cutters.

If you insist in changing the barrel get the barrel first and then decide what boolit it needs based on the barrel diameters of grooves, throat etc.

The 40s are a little different than the nines and 45s.

I have a model 20 and a 29. I shoot only Pb Boolits thru them.
I have a 40 S&W barrel as well, and everything shoots the 175 gr Lee TC boolit just fine.
I do find that there is no leade on the throat of the barrel, so the boolits must be seated to the ogive in order to chamber. This will mean the case capacity is reduced in 40 S&W so you must work up your load carefully.

I shoot the Lee 175 TL boolit through my .40 G23. - no gas check required. I use a Lone Wolf barrel which never swells the brass. Makes sizing easier and brass last longer. Big plus in my mind. Leading never an issue. I use 50/50 range lead/ wheelweights water dropped, sized to .402 with Alox, 4.4 gr wst, 1.135 oal. Nice target load.

A guy at work told me the factory says not to shoot lead when I asked him about casting bullets for his Glock.....:coffee:

Years back I used to load cast bullets to Glock. Factory barrel and Lee:s 124 grain TL bullet.. (lubed with LLA)
No sweat to put five in the head of IPSC target from 50 meters from supported stance.
There was leading. Not hard but one had to take it in to consideration..
I used Lino back then.. Stupid of me...;) but did not realize its value then.
Been a while with cast in the Glock, but I will start again soon..
If I remember right I used VV:s N340 and N320 and N310 then.
