I'm looking for a mold that has a top like a swaged remmington or an old star wadcutter for my s-w m-52.
the gun can be tough to get to feed cast through. Anyone with one and had good results with a certain mold?
thanks

I have 1,000's of the H&G # 50 button nosed 148 gr. from a passed friend. I use them seated
reverse. they aren't MATCH but give me lots of good practice...

I use H&G #258 which is still available from Ballisticast who took over H&G and maintains the high quality of the operation. Their 4 bangers are not cheap. An identical clone of this mold was produced by Lyman--#358063. It is a flat faced wadcutter that is seated flush with the case mouth for use in the 52 or anything else in the 38/357 world. The H&G # 50 and a couple of other similar bullets made by other mold makers have a "button-nose" on it and the 52 doesn't like it so users of that have to set it deeper than the case mouth if they can get it to work that way at all or else have to seat it backwards to get the flush with the case mouth setup. As long as no lead protrudes beyond the mouth of the case the 52 feeds easily and reliably and if the powder charge is adjusted correctly, the slide will work well and the accuracy is amazing. Any number of different powder charges will work well in the 750 fps area and they group well. I have used 2.5-2.6 grains of 700X with the H&G 148 WC listed above. It is a light charge that runs the slide, has light recoil, groups into 1.5" @ 25 yards, burns clean and with lube in only one groove does not give any leading. Again the bottom line is the use of a wadcutter that has a totally flat face and there will be no feeding probs at all. Good shooting LLS

I have a couple of H&G 50's, one with a bevel base and one flat, as well as a Lyman 358063. The trick for me is to crimp on the bevel base. Also worthwhile checking the magazines and polish as needed to keep the followers from can't-ing.

Magma's 148 DEWC should work well.

I've shot both the 358495 and 358101 in both Smith 52s and a Colt Midrange Match and they fed all right. Have to crimp just over the front shoulder./beagle

i just cast about 1500 of them in my new master caster. waiting on my new sizer now. I didn't think they would work but will give'm a try.

I have two Lyman 4 bangers, a 35887 which has a little rounded dimple on the front and a 35863 that casts a DE wadcutter.

My 52 feeds both these boolits loaded flush with the case and just a touch of crimp over the shoulder!

Now I go to extremes with my match ammo in this gun! I have a Lee trimmer set up that I've modified to trim each case to a specific length. It is shorter than suggested trim length but since case's can vary a lot I settled on a specific length and now everything gets cut to that size!

I have never had a feeding malfuntion in my 52!
