Remington just bought Dakota Arms in Sturgis, SD.

Another local business lost to a biggie...

And since Remington is owned by Cerebrus Capital Management, one of the bigger companies around, Dakota actually went to a great biggie.

I'm sure there are little parts of the deal I'll never understand, but I find it interesting that it's always reported as Remington buying them while Cerebus doesn't usually come up. I guess we would accept the familar Remington name easier.

Also, FWIW, Cerebus has owned the majority of Chrysler for a couple of years. Or at least they did until the gov't got in the car business and made things so I don't know who owns what anymore.

Is it Cerebus or Cerberus? Of course, in mythology, Cerberus is a multi-headed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polycephaly) dog (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog) which guards the gates of Hades (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hades), to prevent those who have crossed the river Styx (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Styx) from ever escaping . Perhaps both apply?
