This is my daughter shooting Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt. She shot the S&W yesterday with .38 Spcl loads. She wanted to try the big gun today. I started her off with some heavy loads. 1.5 grain "Titwad", Mihec H&G #68 clone rest of case filled with cream of wheat. I ran through Chrono, ave, 300 fps! She is pretty shaky but does better than some adults I have tried to teach. Boolit passed through quart can and went about 6-8" in the sod. I dug it up, she washed it off and it is ready for another trip down the barrel! ;) Just ignore all the junk on my porch. I aspire to be "White trash".

That is too cool! All of our girls loved 22s, and getting my S&W 32 Magnum back from that horde of Amazons took some doing. Give her a few years--she'll be out-shooting old Dad, as a couple of mine can do. And--there's nothing like letting prospective boyfriends see photos of the girls out shooting. It sets the tone nicely.

Hurray for you and your daughter, I had loads of fun with my kids shooting when they were growing up , and they learned something useful , they both shoot and hunt and my son he is {45years old] now casts his own and reloads . We still have great times together.[smilie=1:

Earlier this spring my oldest was back up here from Virginia for a visit. Her boys wanted Grandpa to let them shoot while they were here. The older one who weighs all of 100# at 13 shot several fairly light loads in 45 ACP, then went to full loads. Next to the Bisley with 45Colt. He really liked that. Then he asks if he can try my 375 SuperMag which had FULL house loads. I figured what the hay, and told him if he felt it was too much for him, that it wasn't any problem. BOY was I ever proven wrong! He fired up the remaining 44 rounds and wanted to load up some more!

His younger brother stopped with the 45 Colt but hes 10 and he did pretty well for a little guy, maybe 85 # at most. Then they collected up the shooting iron and proceeded to bring them into the house so they could get them cleaned up for the "next time."

Does my soul good to see them shooting and hopefully they'll carry the fun of shooting and loading into adulthood.

Good for you starting her young. I'm guessing she'll be a great shot in a couple of years.

I had two 11 yr old boys at the range last week. They shoot lots of .22, and we were busting
Necco wafers, which is a lot of fun. The bigger boy shot a lot of 3/4 power .38 Spl thru my
6" Mod 14 S&W, a tackdriver but pretty heavy for him. They both shot some real light .44
mag loads (180 gr @~750 fps) in the Mtn Gun, liked shooting the big gun. They moved up
to the Kimber Series 1 with 3/4 power .45 ACP loads and did really well, too. I have been shooting
with them since they were 5 and they are TOTALLY safe, better than a lot of "adults".

I am impressed with her ability to get things lined up with a SA, not the lightest of handguns.
My grandaughter will be with me for the summer and I want see if she could handle a .38 4" Mdl.10 she is 12. I might try the down load trick and her have a go.
Love the nail polish as well

"Just ignore all the junk on my porch. I aspire to be "White trash". Hey! I resemble that remark! That's nuthin'. Around here they'd say you were just showing off all the neat stuff you own.

Good looking young lady there. I'd say she's off to a good start!

Do you mean to say that if you have a square of roof shingles and a ladder against your house that you are White Trash? I had a neighbor who cut his grass and found a transmission that he had been looking for.

I like the fact that if not satisfied with the instruction, she has a baseball bat at hand to take a swing at her old man he he :kidding:

Thanks for all the replies. This is my baby. She was born when I was 40. Her older sister was a gun nut also. Nice pics Tn River Ratt! Here is my "MJ" in her sniper mode.

9.3x is right, about the boys having respect for girls who shoot. First time I met my daughter's boyfriend, I took them both shooting. He had never touched a gun, she is quite a shooter. I left them be and let her teach him to shoot. I wandered down to the 100yrd range for an hr. before coming back to check on them at the 7 and 25yrd ranges (she is 20 and is accomplished with guns/safety). She had him sorted out nicely and he liked it! That was in January.

Last weekend had them both out at an IDPA match. Daughter and I shot the match using two 3-inch 1911 45s and boyfriend videotaped the match. We all had a ball. think I will buy a third 3-inch gun this summer and get it ready for her trip home from school at xmas. He is sure to be here for a weekend or two ... :p
Good times!

It makes my day to see the next group of shooters sending lead down range.
