I'm trying to figure out how long is takes for Linotype to age-harden to full hardness when air-cooled from the mold vs when it is water dropped or HTed and quenched from an oven.

All I know is that increasing antimony content will shorten the age-hardening process. I'd like to hear from someone with actual experience with this alloy and how it responds.

most all lead alloys reach near full hardness in 14 days and 95++% in a month.
whether water dropped or air cooled.

I'm not an expert, but lino goes from liquid to solid without transition. It does not respond to heat treatment which is another way of doing the same thing to alloys that do not do it on their own. I very much doubt that it age hardens enough to matter.

Okay, thanks guys. I'm still unsure, but I have some that I'm going to start playing with. I'll experiment.
