well i finally got my 115grn load to not lead the barrel!
shot 100 rounds yesterday without having the barrel look like someone poured molten lead down the barrel...
i cant wait till next time, and shoot 300 or so.
cant beat 30-40$ per 1K of 9mm ammo. thats almost like 22LR prices!:drinks::Fire:

3.2 grains 700X, H20 dropped bullets from a lee 6 cav mould, and i did not re-size for my beretta 92 FS
i will see how shooting 300 rounds goes without getting leading, i may get some after that many, if so i will resize the bullets then...

Sizing will just give you a smaller boolit and that may well be the key to your clean shooting.

If 100 worked I"ll bet a dollar to a doughnut that 300 will be fine also.

if thats the case i will have a new favorite hand gun... my beretta, as i dont need to resize the boolits :-D
i did look closer last night and there was a teeny bit of residue, but it came out with one or two strokes of a bronze bristle brush...
i will see how 300 rounds goes...

If they work as cast by all means use them that way. If all goes well dont clean the barrel unless accuracy goes south. I hate using the alox but it does work.

are there any other tumble lubes that do not smoke as much as liquid allox?

I've been shooting 9 mm in a Baretta 92SB for some time and successfully using Lyman #358242 and RCBS 115 grain truncated conical nose. Both feed flawlessly and give reasonably good accuracy (9 ring or better at 25 yards). I use also 700x in the 3.2 loading. Bullets are cast of straight WW-no quenching, sized .356 and lubed with NRA 50/50 Alox-Beeswax. Absolutely no leading!!!I've also used a Beeswax-Alox mix and that worked well for me. The best loading I ever used for the 9MM in the Baretta, the Luger and a S&W 952 is 4.7 grains of IMR 4756. Slower than 700x, better loading density, burns clean and somewhat lower pressure and no leading whatsoever. Defiitely worth a try. Good shooting. LLS

Yeah, liquid alox if you are sparing with it. Most of us use way more than needed, and that contributes to the smoke. Thin with mineral spirits until you just get a light golden tint to the bullets. That's enough at velocities around 1000 fps.

Alternatives are Rooster Jacket which is a bit pricey and Johnson's Paste Wax which requires the bullets be heated to tumble lube. Both work.
