I found a way to shorten the time to heat up the Lee 10 lb bottom pour

I took a piece of aluminum foil and folded into a square (a 4 layer square), and put it over the opening as a lid. It seems to shorten the time to get the pot hot.

A watched pot never boils?

Good ideal that also keeps the aliens from reading your mind.

When I use my Lee pot, I set my ingot mold on top of the pot for the same function, to trap the heat. When the pot gets hot enough to cast, I put the ingot mold under the spout to catch the drip drip drip drip drip. :-)

Works pretty well.

Try turning the rod with screwdriver, and putting a spring on handle or weight on rod.in past threads they clamp a vise grip on top of rod.it may be the rod floats in the lead. :coffeecom [smilie=1:
