I´ve just got my hands on a Lyman 452374 Hollow Point mould and have already casted some nice boolits, they came out weighing at 186-188 grains from straight WW.
Due to the lack of information for these bullet in the books I own, I would like to know from any of you guys with much more experience than me, the OAL and charge weight range you have experimented with. I have a bunch of W231 that I use regularly while reloading 45 ACP.
Thanks in advenced for your help.

Any length up to 1.250 and use published data for the 231 for 185gr jacketed as a max and less is usually better (up to a point).

I have the same mold but cast from 50/50 clip on & tape wts. The bullet is ready to load @ 200gr. I run them 850-875fps w/ decent expansion. Faster than that & the nose blows off.

They expand very well, without the nose blowing off when cast in pure lead (about 200-205 grains I believe), and pushed to a measly 740fps or so.

I've shot them into both water, and saturated phonebooks, and get the same results with either medium.

I have a friend that has killed two Whitetail deer with them, also pure lead. However, he was pushing them at about 940fps, and measured a recovered slug at .79

I imagine leading would be a problem when using the pure lead in a powder-burner. We use them in air rifles, so we don't experience the leading problem due to the lack of any combustion taking place in our rifles.

The guys are right about useing 50-50
lead.
Try the JPW for lube it is a good performer
in a 45.:Fire:

Thank you very much for the info. I´ll try to cast them from range scrap and see if they get to about 200 gr.
