A friend of mine gave me 1,200-1,500 Meister bullets. They are 158 g, with a supposed brinnell of 12-14. I wanted to run some of these through my Taurus 357 4 inch tracker w/ported barrel. Is this a bad idea with the porting? Are these a pretty good bullet for woods carry here in maine only thing we have here is blackbears? Any recommend loads? Any and all advice is very much appreciated!

Can't help you with the ported barrel, but my deer load for handgun is a 158gr SWC with a gc. I use straight ww air cooled, that should be the same hardness as you are looking at. My load is 6gr of Unique, and gives just a hair over 1000fps out of my 6" Taurus.

The porting is not a problem.

Assuming they are the proper diameter for your cylinder throats and barrel, you should have no problem pushing them to full .357 velocities. One of my favorites for this weight is 9.5 gr. of Hercules Bluedot, which produces 1250 fps. in my 4" Taurus model 66.

+1 on 6 gr. of Unique. I have used that on a few different 158gr SWC's. GOOD LOAD.
